Abstract

PURPOSE: To take various thin-wire tortion tests easily and accurately by providing a driving source and torsional displacement measurer to either of chucks for fitting a sample, and a differential transformer for position detection and a magnetic coil for position holding to the other.
CONSTITUTION: When thin-wire sample 1 is fixed between two chucks 2a and 2b and turned by driving source 7, electric capacity between parallel plates 4a and 4b, and semicircle disk 10 varies linearly and the variable capacitor shows the torsional displacement of chuck 2a. On the other hand, when chuck 2b is displaced in the circumferential direction through the rotation of chuck 2a, it is detected by differential transformer 11 and according to its output, a current flows through magnet coil 12 to hold chuck 2b at a constant position under the restraint of the corresponding electromagnetic force of magnet coil 12. Torsional stress operating on chuck 2b by a current flowing through magnet 2 at that time is measured.
