Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain Y-type zeolite having a high SiO2 to Al2O3 ratio by adding excess alkali to a mixed soln. of an aq. alkali silicate soln. and an aq. alkali aluminate soln.; aging the alkali-added soln.; and crystallizing the resulting gel.
CONSTITUTION: Alkali is added to a mixed soln. of an aq. alkali silicate soln. and an aq. alkali aluminate soln. so that the molar ratio of M2O/Al2O3 (M is an alkali metal) becomes 5 or more, pref. 7 or more. This alkali-added soln. is then aged at 25W80°C for 10min or more and subjected to filtration or centrifugal separation. The resulting gel is mixed with an aq. alkali silicate soln., further mixed with alkali as required, aged, and crystallized by heating to 80W110°C. Sodium silicate, sodium aluminate and caustic soda are generally used as the above-mentioned alkali silicate, alkali aluminate and alkali, respectively.
