Abstract
PURPOSE: To utilize the wheel driving force of an electric motor vehicle at as much adhesion limit as possible by controlling the frequency of an AC power supply for energizing an induction motor and a linear motor for driving the vehicle in response to the automotive body speed.
CONSTITUTION: An induction motor 10 for rotating wheels 3 through a reduction gear 2 is controlled, for example, by a pulse duration modulation type variable voltage and variable frequency (VVVF) inverter 11. A vehicle speed sensor 7 generates a frequency equal to the frequency of the inverter when the motor 10 is rotated at synchronous speed. A linear motor 5 is connected in parallel with the motor 10 to produce driving force in the same direction as the drive wheels 3. The output signal f1 from the sensor 7 and a slip frequency f3 from a slip frequency pattern circuit 12 are applied to a frequency adding or subtracting circuit 13, which thereupon adds the inputs when motoring the vehicle and substracts when regenerating the vehicle. Accordingly, the output of the inverter 11 applied to the motors 10 and 5 controls the slip frequency constant at both motoring and regenerating times.
