Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the outer diameter of a generator, by arranging an armature so that it opposes the magnetic poles comprising permanent magnets with a gap in the axial direction being intervened.
CONSTITUTION: A rotor is constituted by installing a plurality of permanent magnets 5, which are magnetized in the axial direction, to a rotor boss 4 comprising a non-magnetic material. An armature comprising an armature coil 2 and an armature core 3 is arranged so that the armature opposes said rotor with a gap in the axial direction being intervened. In this case, a plurality of the permanent magnets 5 are so arranged that the N-poles and the S-poles are alternately sequenced in the circumferential direction, and the same size is used for the magnets without regard to the inner diameter of the rotating shaft. In this constitution, even though the diameter of the rotating body which is to be inserted in the inner diameter of the boss becomes large, only the size of the rotor boss 4 is changed to cope with the situation, thus the outer diameter of a generator can be reduced.
