Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare an adhesive free from odor and whitening and having excellent adhesive strength, instantaneous adhesivity and storage stability, by compounding an alkoxy cyanoacrylate prepared by depolymerizing a specific condensate, with an inhibitor.
CONSTITUTION: An adhesive comprising (A) a highly pure 2-alkoxyethyl-α- cyanoacrylate containing 0 W 5 wt.% of 2-alkoxyethyl cyanoacetate and 0 W 5 wt.% of 2-alkoxyethanol and prepared by washing the condensate of 2-alkoxyethyl cyanoacetate and formaldehyde, with water or an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid, etc., and depolymerizing and distilling the washed product, (B) preferably 1 W 100 ppm of an anionic polymerization inhibitor, e.g. SO2, etc., and (C) preferably 50 W 500 ppm of one or more radical polymerization inhibitors, e.g. hydroquinone, etc..
