Abstract

PURPOSE: To impart improved light stabiity to a synthetic resin without degrading the thermal stability, by using a small amount of a sterically hindered cyclic amine together with a specific cyclic compound.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 100 parts by wt. of a synthetic resin is incorporated with 0.001W5 parts by wt. preferably 0.01W3 parts by wt. of a light stabilizer consisting of (B) at least one type of sterically hindered cyclic amine, e.g. 4-benzoyloxy-2, 2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine, of formula I: (X is five to seven-membered nitrogen- containing ring; R1 and R2 are alkyl groups or may form -(CH2)5-; R3 and R4 are alkyl groups or may form -(CH2)5-, formula II, etc,; n is 1 or 2; y is H, -0., hydroxyl, alkyl, or alkenyl group when n is 1, and alkylene, alkenylene, or alkynylene group, etc. when n is 2], and (C) at least one type of mono-or polycylic heterocyclic compound, e.g. formula VI, having a ring structure of the formula III, IV, or V in the molecule as a synergistic agent. The weight ratio of the ingredients (B) to (C) is preferably 1:10W20:1.
