Abstract

CONSTITUTION: Under stand-by running of the water-turbine or condenser running, the inside of runner chamber 9 is filled with compressed air from the air compressor through the inlet and exhaust pipe 2, leakage of water from the guide vane 8 is drained into the draft tube 5 through the drain valve 4. While when the running is shifted to generating running, the air in the runner chamber 9 is exhausted, the runner chamber 9 is filled as show on in the figure. Water raised around the runner 1 stops in the back pressure chamber 7 and side pressure chamber 6, so that the runner 1 is moved vertically. Since with the drain valve 4 shut, abnormal thrust does not occur. Additionally a full shut confiming contact point 10 is provided to the drain valve 4, interlocked for starting condition of the water-turbine.
