Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a weak coupling Josephson device having desired characteristics by forming the weak coupling part having a desired degree of weak coupling with high accuracy simply through controlling of the thickness of a superconductor layer. CONSTITUTION:A weak coupling part forming layer 5 is formed on a substrate 1 and electrodes 2, 3 composed of superconductors respectively extending onto the layer 5 and the unextended region of the layer 5 on the substrate 1. In this case the weak coupling parts 4 which are composed of an insulator or semiconductor or normal conductor or a superconductor having a transition temperature lower than that of the superconductor constituting the electrodes 2, 3, are mutually connected by extending onto one end part of the layer of the electrode layers 2 and 3 and weak-couple the electrodes 2 and 3 at said connection part are formed to the substrate and layer 5 respectively.
