Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the title molded acticle having improved hot water and wear resistance, coated with a clear layer of a resin penetrated through a network of patterns, by placing a transparent surface mat upon the patterned surface of a patterned article, and by melt molding the resin base layer under specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: The transparent surface mat 6 is placed upon the pattern printed polyester fabric 3, and sewn in a shape of, for instance, a bathtub. The sewn material is put on the heated male mold 1 with the mat 6 facing the mold. Sheet Molding Compounds of Fiber Reinforced Plastics are piled on the sewn material. The female mold 2 is then placed on the SMCs, and the molds are pressed to melt the Fiber Reinforced Plastics. The resin in the Fiber Reinforced Plastics is passed through a network of the patterned fabric 3 to the mat 6. The resin is moved through the spaces among fibers in the mat 6 and the transparent polyester fabric piece 7 to form the clear layer 5. After cooling, the curedc article is taken out.
