Abstract

PURPOSE: To form electrostatic latent images for multichromatic originals by radiating the color light images of the multichromatic original to a photoreceptor having (n) layers of photoconductive layers and potentially separating the colors up to maximum 2n colors.
CONSTITUTION: A photoreceptor 1 is constituted by laminating (n) layers of photoconductive layers of mutually different spectral sensitivities, e.g., 11, 12, 13 on a consuctive backing 10. This photoreceptor 1 is subjected to primary charging to a specified polarity, e.g., negative polarity, by a charger 2 in the dark or while it is being evenly radiated with the light which makes the photoconductive layers of the layers (3-2+1=2) from, e.g., the second layer from the top of the three layers of the photoconductive layers down to the conductive substrate 10 conductive, i.e., the light having been cut off of the wavelength of the spectral sensitivity of the photoconductive layer 11. Thereby, the surface of the photoreceptor 1 is negatively charged and positive charges are induced on the back of the photoconductive layer and are evenly distributed.
