Abstract

PURPOSE:To correctly detect abnormal combustion by calculating the permissible upper and lower limit temperatures of exhaut gas in all cylinders through the mean value of exhaust-gas temperatures in all cylinders and giving an alarm when the exhaust gas temperature of each cylinder is not within this temperature range. CONSTITUTION:Temperature measuring resistors 1-1-1-N detect the exhaust- gas temperature of each cylinder, and converters 2-1-2-N performs the conversion to electrical signal. A mean-value calculator 11 averages these electrical signals and calculates a mean value M. The value alpha set in the lower-limit setting apparatuses 13-1-13-N of respective cylinders is substrated, and the lower-limit value M-alpha is calculated. When the temperature of corresponding cylinder becomes lower than the lower-limit value, the calculation circuits 14-1-14-N give alarm signals. While, the value beta set in the upper limit setting apparatuses 15-1-15-N is added to the mean value M, and the upper limit value M+beta is calculated, and when the temperature of corresponding cylinder increases higher than the upper limit value, the calculation circuits 16-1-16-N give alarm signals. Thus, abnormal combustion can be detected correctly.
