Abstract
PURPOSE: To rapidly trap foreign matters to lower the dielectric strength in the neighborhood of spacer by embedding electrode for field relaxation into spacer to support charged portion inside a metal container filled with an insulating gas.
CONSTITUTION: The conductor 2 is supported by the insulating spacer 3 of a conical form inside the metal container 1 filled with the insulating gas 6 and also combined with the flange 11, and the spacer 3 is provided with the electrode 4 for field relaxation, consisting of the supporting portion 42 put between the embedding portion 41 at the end of the spacer 3 and the flange 11. Thus, foreign matters formed in the metal container 1 drop by gravity into the trap 5 where electric field is relaxed by the electrode 4 when coming near the spacer 3 while making a complicate movement in the insulating gas 6, and creeping flash-over fault due to the adhesion of foreign matters to the surface of the spacer can therefore be prevented.
