Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the title composition having excellent throwing power, stability, and wide coating conditions, and giving a coating layer having high corrosion resistance, smoothness, and paintability, by compounding a specific water resin neutralized with a base and a melamine resin or a phenolic resin.
CONSTITUTION: A coating composition composed of (A) 99W90 wt% (solid basis) of a base-neutralized water resin having an acid value of 40W200 prepared by (1) reacting (a) 20W90 wt% of a 1,4-addition polymer having an iodine value of ≥ 350, content of 1,2-vinyl double bond of ≤ 50%, and a number average molecular weight of 500W5000 with (b) 80W10 wt% of an oil component having an iodine value of ≥ 100, until the rate of iodine value decrease reaches 3W40%, (2) mixing (c) 80W10 wt% of the reaction product obtained above with (d) 20W90 wt% of 1,2-polybutadiene having an iodine value of ≥ 400, vinyl double bond content of ≥ 50 %, and a number average molecular weight of 500W5000, and (3) reacting (e) 94W70 wt% of the mixture obtained above with (f) 6W30 wt% of an α,β- ethylenic unsaturated polybasic acid (anhydride) in an inert gas atmosphere at 140W230°C for 2W10 hours, and (B) 1W10 wt% of a melamine resin or a phenolic resin.
