Abstract
PURPOSE: To enlarge the exhausting conductance of a device, by means of setting up a by-passing tube with a stopping valve at the steam trap of a cover gas system, of closing the valve at normal operation, and of full opening the valve at the evacuating time.
CONSTITUTION: A steam trap 7 is set up at the cover gas system of a vessel 6 holding a liquid metal, and a by-pass tube 8 with a stopping valve 9 is set up at this trap 7. This device is connected to a breathing header 10 and a vacuum pump 11. During in normal operation, the stopping valve 9 is closed, and the cover gas is flowed via the steam trap 7, and an innert gas in which the vapour of a liquid metal was removed, is flowed through the breathing header 10. At the evacuating time of innert gas displacement of the vessel 6, the evacuation effected by the vacyum pump 11 by means of full opening the stopping valve 9. Because of the exhaust conductance of the by-pass system being larger than exhaust conductance of the steam trap 7, the exhaust conductance of the cover gas device at the evacuating time, can be satisfactorily enlarged.
