Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a polyamide-imide usable for inexpensive electrical materials, having improved heat resistance, by reacting a masked polyisocyanate having isocyanurate rings with a carboxylic acid having an acid anhydride group.
CONSTITUTION: (A) A masked polyisocyanate having isocyanurate rings is reacted with (B) a carboxylic acid having an acid anhydride group and, if necessary, other isocyanurates. A masked polyisocyanate prepared from 4,4'-diphenylmethane, tolylene or xylylene diisocyanate may be preferably used as the polyisocyanate (A) with regard to the cost and heat resistance.
