Abstract
PURPOSE: The captioned case hardening steel of good cold forging characteristic and machinability composed of the specific composition steel containing one or two kinds of C, Si, Mn, Cr, Mo, Ca or REM and Al and comprising containing S and O in impurities at respectively less than specific values.
CONSTITUTION: This case hardening steel contains C; 0.05 to 0.50%, Si; 0.001 to 0.40%, Mn; 0.30 to 2.00%, Cr; ≤5%, Mo; ≤0.5%, one or two kinds of Ca or REM; 0.003 to 0.0050%, Al; ≤0.050%, the rest composed of Fe and unavoidable impurities, the S in the impurities being less than 0.0020% and the O less than 0.0050%.
EFFECT: This case hardening steel does not produce mixed grain structure at the austenitization such as carburizing after forming and does not produce any internal oxidation through carburizing.
