Abstract
PURPOSE: To execute drop-out detection by supervising the regularity of the modulating signal at the reproduction at the time of recording and reproducing digital data by the use of self-synchronizable modulation and detecting that the modulating signal becomes irregular at the occurrence of drop-out.
CONSTITUTION: If it is assumed that there be a drop-out in reproducing FM, it turns out that a reproducing amplifier circuit 3 operates with noise and therefore the input waveform to a differentiating circuit 5 becomes as shown in (f). When there was the drop-out, extremely many pulses are produced as shown (c) in the period of (g). If this output (i) is read in a flip-flop circuit 10 by the clock (e) from a reproducing clock generator 11, then the drop-out error detection output shown in (j) synchronized to the clock may be obtained.
