Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the corrosion resistance, coating adherence and weldability of a steel product by forming a chromate film on the product surface and subjecting the film to dissolution treatment in a soln. while applying ultrasonic vibration to regulate the amt. of the film.
CONSTITUTION: Electrolysis is carried out using a steel sheet, etc. as a cathode in an aq. soln. contg. 5W150 g/l (as CrO3) of chromic anhydride, chromate or dichromate and an auxiliary at about 30W70°C for about 0.5W3 sec to form a chromate film. The electrolytic bath is immediately applied with vibration energy of 0.1W1 W/cm2 to form cavitation. Thus, the film is subjected to dissolution treatment in a short time to stably regulate the amt. of the film to below 6 mg/m2.
