職人の腕に頼らざるを得なかつた。また熟練した
職人であつても、上述のように選別しながら葺い
てゆくために非常に施工に手間がかかるという欠
点があつた。さらに、天然石であるため、潜在ク
ラツクの入つている板材も多く含まれており、こ
れは釘打で固定する時にカナヅチ等で板に衝撃を
与えた時に板が割れてしまい、施工手間を増やす

ものであり、屋根葺材として使用する天然スレー

め、表面は研削しないことを特徴とする天然スレ

る。本考案の天然スレート屋根材1は、その屋根
下地側となる裏面7が研削され裏面の平坦度が高
められており、又その表面8は天然スレートの原
石を割り裂いた時に割り裂き面に生ずるソリ、ヨ
レ、凹凸等の天然スレート屋根材特有の外観が屋
根の表面の意匠として発揮される様に研削せず、
割り裂いた状態のままにしておく。この天然スレ
ート屋根材の板厚としては4mm〜25mm程度であ
り、大きさとしては100mm×100mm〜300×500mm程
度であり、形状は長方形を基本とし、その隅をカ
ツトしたもの、下辺をアール状に切断したものが
最も実用的であるが、勿論これらの形状、寸法に
