Claims (1)
後部チユーブとが、コラムチユーブ全体として伸
縮ができ、前部チユーブと後部チユーブのはめ合
わせ部分に両チユーブの相対的な移動ストローク
の増大に伴い荷重がほぼ一定な特性曲線を有する
第1のエネルギ吸収部材が配置されるとともに、
前部チユーブが車体の固定部分に固定され、後部
チユーブが前向きの衝撃力が作用したときに前方
に移動し移動ストロークの増大に伴い荷重が増大
するような特性曲線を有する第2のエネルギ吸収
部材を介して車体の固定部分に取付けられている
エネルギ吸収式ステアリングコラム。 (2) 前記第1のエネルギ吸収部材が、前記前部
チユーブおよび後部チユーブのはめ合わせ部分と

部材を車体の固定部分に取付けるボルトの締めつ
け軸力を受け持ち、前記支持部材の長穴および塑
性変形部材の長穴部内に介在せられる環座と、前
記支持部材のステアリングギヤ側の端部に一端が
固定されるとともに他端がステアリングホイール
側に配置され、両端間には両側に蛇行して連続す
る複数の屈曲部を備えた変形柱部分が形成され、
かつボルトの前記環座で制限されるまでの締めつ
け軸力に対して弾性的に変形されるようになされ
た湾曲凸部からなる飽和ばね特性部を有する塑性
変形部材とで構成されている請求項(1)に記載の
エネルギ吸収式ステアリングコラム。 (4) 前記第1のエネルギ吸収部材が、予めコラ
ムチユーブを圧縮させ転動部材により前部チユー
ブと後部チユーブとのはめ合わせ部分を塑性変形
