Description
Claims (7)
- 酸素と燃料との混合比が理論混合比近傍で運転する火花点火式内燃機関であって、
外部の空気から酸素を一部除去して燃焼に供される窒素富化空気を得る窒素富化装置と、
排気通路に設けられた三元触媒と、
内燃機関の排気ガス中のHC、CO、NOxが上記三元触媒において同時に浄化されるように空燃比センサを用いて上記混合比を理論混合比近傍にフィードバック制御する手段と、
を備え、
上記窒素富化装置は、上記のフィードバック制御中に、酸素の除去を助成するスイープガスとして上記三元触媒を通過した排気ガスが導入され、
このスイープガスにより酸素が一部除去されて得られた窒素富化空気が当該内燃機関の燃焼室に供給される、内燃機関。 - 上記スイープガスは、上記排気ガスが上記三元触媒を通過することで酸素を殆ど含まないガスとなっており、
上記窒素富化装置に導入された外部の空気中の酸素の一部が上記スイープガスへ移動することで窒素富化空気が得られる、請求項1に記載の内燃機関。 - 上記窒素富化装置は、
外部の空気が導入される吸気室と、
上記排気ガスが導入される排気室と、
酸素が選択的に通過する気体分離膜と、
を備え、
上記気体分離膜が上記吸気室と上記排気室とを隔成するように配置されている、請求項1または2に記載の内燃機関。 - 外部から取り込んだ空気を加圧する過給機をさらに備え、
上記窒素富化装置に、上記過給機で加圧された空気が導入される、請求項1〜3のいずれかに記載の内燃機関。 - 酸素と燃料との混合比が空燃比センサを用いたフィードバック制御により理論混合比近傍で運転する火花点火式内燃機関に備わる窒素富化装置であって、
この窒素富化装置は、
外部の空気が導入され、窒素富化空気が排出される吸気室と、
上記空気から酸素を一部除去する気体分離膜と、
酸素の除去を助成するスイープガスとして、上記のフィードバック制御中の三元触媒によって浄化された内燃機関の排気ガスが導入される排気室と、
を備え、
上記吸気室から排出された窒素富化空気が上記内燃機関の燃焼室に供給されるように構成されるとともに、
上記気体分離膜が上記吸気室と上記排気室とを隔成するように配置されている、窒素富化装置。 - 上記気体分離膜が、シート状膜または中空状膜である、請求項5に記載の窒素富化装置。
- 上記気体分離膜が、上記シート状膜が集積・一体化されたスパイラル型またはプリーツ型の気体分離膜エレメントであり、
上記気体分離膜エレメントは、上記排気室の側にガスの流れを導く流路を備えている、請求項6に記載の窒素富化装置。
