中央に回転軸の取り付け孔が開設されたカップ型台金の底面は、底面視が半径内外方向に所定幅の輪状平坦部に形成され、該平坦部には回転砥石の回転方向に刃先を向けた研削チップが周方向に沿って離隔した位置に配設されたカップ型回転砥石において、
研削チップの刃先で下地表面に傷を形成不可能に、カップ型台金の底面には研削チップの回転方向前方に傷形成回避手段を設け、
該傷形成回避手段が、前記平坦部に於ける研削チップのカップ型台金の回転方向前方に、平坦部からカップ型台金の下端部外側面に亘り曲面状に突出する膨出部を設け、
カップ型台金の中心と平坦部側に設けられた膨出部の頂部を半径とする円周上を境界部とし、
該境界部から半径外側に於いては平坦部側の膨出部の頂部と平坦部表面との垂直距離は、研削チップの刃先下端縁と平坦部表面との垂直距離よりも長く設定され、
前記境界部から半径内側に於いては研削チップの刃先下端縁と平坦部表面との垂直距離は平坦部側の膨出部の頂部と平坦部表面との垂直距離よりも長く設定され、
