Description
本発明の目的は、旋削加工、フライス加工、及び/又は掘削加工において改善された切削特性を示すκ−Al2O3層を有する、コーティングされた切削工具を提供することである。さらなる目的は、鋼、軸受鋼、及びステンレス鋼などの合金鋼において改善された耐クレータ摩耗性を有する切削工具を提供することである。
XRD検査
κ‐Al2O3層のテクスチャを調査するために、X線回析(XRD)は、PIXcel検出器を備えたPANalytical CubiX3回折計を用いて、フランク面上で実施された。コーティングされた切削工具は、試料ホルダーに載せられた。それにより、試料のフランク面が確実に試料ホルダーの基準表面と平行になり、さらにフランク面が適度な高さとなった。45kVの電圧及び40mAの電流で、Cu−Kα放射線が測定のために用いられた。1/2度の散乱防止スリット及び1/4度の発散スリットが用いられた。コーティングされた切削工具からの回折強度は、15°から140°の範囲(2θ)、すなわち7.5°から70°までの入射角θ範囲にわたって測定された。
テクスチャ化されたκ−Al2O3層は、オイラークレードルを有するPANalytical MRD回折計上でXRDによって解析された。回折計は、点焦点で操作され、主要ポリキャピラリレンズ及び十字スリットが備えられている。十字スリットは、2×2mmに設定された。回析光学系は、0.18°平行コリメータ及び平坦なグラファイトモノクロメータであった。点検出器(point detector)が使用された。
本発明の実施形態は、以下の実施例と関連してより詳細に開示される。これらの実施例は、例示に過ぎず、実施形態を限定するものとしてみなすべきではない。以下の実施例では、コーティングされた切削工具(インサート)は、切削試験において製造、分析、且つ評価された。
3種類のコーティングが、10000ハーフインチサイズの切削インサートを収容することができるラジアルイオン結合型(radial ion bond type)CVD反応器(530サイズ)の中で堆積された。3種類の試料は、試料A(本発明)、試料B(本発明)、及び試料C(基準)と呼ばれる。これらの試料は、ISO型形状CNMG 120408−PMを有するインサートであった。
内部層の上に、{0 0 l}−テクスチャα−アルミナ、TiN、及び{0 0 l}−テクスチャκ−アルミナの層構造体が、以下のように引き続き堆積された。最初は、接合層(内部層)が、CO2、CO、N2、及びH2の混合物の中で4分間、酸化された。接合層酸化堆積の詳細は、表3で示された。
試料A及び試料Bは、κ‐Al2O3堆積に関してプロセスパラメータが異なる。すべての他のプロセスパラメータは同一であった。試料Bに関しては、κ‐Al2O3層が、2つのステップで、1000℃及び55ミリバールで堆積された。第1のステップは、2.3体積%のAlCl3、4.6体積%のCO2、1.7体積%のHCl、及び残部のH2を使用して、約0.1μmのκ‐Al2O3を与え、第2のステップは、2.2%のAlCl3、4.4%のCO2、5.5%のHCl、0.33%のH2S、及び残部のH2を使用して、全体で約4μmの層厚のκ‐Al2O3を与えた。プロセスパラメータは表7で示される。
表7で示されたプロセスパラメータを使用して、約5μmのκ‐Al2O3層が、接合層(内部層)上に直接堆積された。
XRD回析図におけるピーク強度が上述の方法に従って提供された。薄膜修正が強度に適用された。
試料B及び試料Cが、上述の方法で、(0 0 6)極点図及びχ走査を用いて評価された。試料Bの極点図は、χ=0°を中心に1つのピークを示した(図6参照)。基準試料Cの極点図では、このようにχ=0°に近いピークは見付からなかった。
コーティングされた切削工具、すなわち、試料A、B、及びCは、以下の切削データを用いて、軸受鋼(Ovako 825B)における長手方向旋削で試験された。

切削工具につき1つの切り刃が評価された。
Claims (13)
- 基材とコーティングとを含むコーティングされた切削工具であって、前記コーティングが、化学蒸着(CVD)によって堆積された、1から20μmの厚さを有するκ‐Al2O3の少なくとも1つの層を含み、前記κ‐Al2O3層の(0 0 6)反射上での−80°から80°までのχ走査が、0°を中心に最強ピークを示し、前記ピークのFWHMが、<25°であり、好ましくは<20°であり、より好ましくは<18°である、コーティングされた切削工具。
- 15°から140°までのX線回析図における前記κ‐Al2O3層からの最強ピークが、(0 0 2)反射である、請求項1に記載のコーティングされた切削工具。
- 15°から140°までのX線回析図における前記κ‐Al2O3層からの第2の最強ピークが、(0 0 4)反射である、請求項2に記載のコーティングされた切削工具。
- 15°から140°までのX線回析図における前記κ‐Al2O3層からの第3の最強ピークが、(0 0 6)反射である、請求項3に記載のコーティングされた切削工具。
- 前記κ‐Al2O3層の平均厚さが2から10μmである、請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載のコーティングされた切削工具。
- 前記コーティングが、α−Al2O3層をさらに含む、請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載のコーティングされた切削工具。
- 前記α−Al2O3層が、前記κ‐Al2O3層と前記基材との間に配置されている、請求項6に記載のコーティングされた切削工具。
- 前記α−Al2O3層の厚さが0.5から2μm又は0.7から1μmである、請求項6または7に記載のコーティングされた切削工具。
- 前記コーティングが、TiN、TiCN、TiC、TiCO、TiAlCO、及びTiCNOによる1つ又は複数の層をさらに含む、請求項1から8のいずれか一項に記載のコーティングされた切削工具。
