ここで、図4に示すシール部SLにおける接着強度、言い換えれば、シール部SLにおけるシール強度について説明する。図12は、図4とは別の検討例を示す拡大断面図である。また、図5は、図1に示すシール部の周辺の拡大平面図である。また、図6は、図5のA−A線に沿った拡大断面図である。なお、図5は、図4に示す基板11に形成された部材PSpを基板12側からみた拡大平面図である。また、図7は、図3および図4に示すカラーフィルタ基板の背面側に形成された複数の部材を模式的に示す平面図である。

Claims (9)
- 第1面を有する第1基板、前記第1基板の前記第1面と対向する第2面を有する第2基板、前記第1基板と前記第2基板との間に配置される液晶層、および前記液晶層の周囲で前記第1基板と前記第2基板とを接着固定するシール部を有し、
前記第1基板は、前記液晶層と接する界面である前記第1面に形成される配向膜を有し、
前記液晶層が形成された表示部には、前記第1基板と前記第2基板の間に、複数のスペーサ部材が形成され、
前記複数のスペーサ部材には、第1スペーサ部材と、前記第1スペーサ部材よりも高さが低い第2スペーサ部材と、を備え、
前記シール部は、
平面視において、前記液晶層の周囲に配置され、前記液晶層の外縁に沿って延びる壁状の第1部材と、
平面視において、前記第1部材の両方の側面を覆うように配置され、前記液晶層の周囲を連続的に囲むシール材と、
を備え、
前記第1部材は、
前記第1スペーサ部材と同じ高さを有する複数の第1部分と、
前記複数の第1部分の間に配置され、前記第2スペーサ部材と同じ高さを有する複数の第2部分と、
を備え、
前記シール材は、前記第1部材の前記液晶層側において、前記配向膜の周縁部と厚さ方向に重なり、前記第1部材の第1基板の端部側において、前記配向膜とは重ならない、表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、前記第1部材が有する前記複数の第1部分と前記複数の第2部分とは、交互に配列される、表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、前記第1部材の前記複数の第1部分のそれぞれは、前記第1面および前記第2面に接触し、前記複数の第2部分のそれぞれは、前記第1面および前記第2面のうちのいずれか一方に接触し、他方には接触しない、表示装置。
- 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、
前記第1部材の前記複数の第1部分のそれぞれは、前記第1部材の延在方向に沿って第1長さを有し、
前記第1部材の前記複数の第2部分のそれぞれは、前記第1部材の延在方向に沿って第2長さを有し、
前記第1長さは前記第2長さよりも短い、表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、
前記第1部材の前記複数の第1部分のそれぞれは、前記第1部材の延在方向に沿って第1長さを有し、
前記第1部材の前記複数の第2部分のそれぞれは、前記第1部材の延在方向に沿って第2長さを有し、
前記第1長さの値を前記第1長さと前記第2長さの合計値で除した値は、5%以上30%以下である、表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の表示装置において、
平面視において、前記第1部材は、前記液晶層が形成された表示部の周囲を連続的に囲むように形成される、表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、
前記第1基板は、平面視において、第1方向に沿って延びる第1辺、前記第1辺に対向する第2辺、前記第1方向に対して直交する第2方向に沿って延びる第3辺、および前記第3辺に対向する第4辺を有し、
平面視において、前記液晶層が形成された表示部から、前記第1辺までの距離は、前記表示部から前記第2辺までの距離、前記表示部から前記第3辺までの距離、および前記表示部から前記第4辺までの距離よりも長く、
前記第1部材は、前記第2辺、前記第3辺、および前記第4辺のそれぞれに沿って延びる、表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、
前記第1基板の前記第1面側には、カラーフィルタと、前記カラーフィルタを覆う樹脂層と、が形成され、
前記第1部材は前記樹脂層が有する前記第1面に形成される、表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の表示装置であって、
前記シール材には、ガラス繊維が含まれない、表示装置。
