次に、図19及び図20を参照して、本実施形態及び変形例で説明した表示装置10の適用例について説明する。図19及び図20は、本実施形態に係る表示装置を備えた電子機器の一例を示す図である。本実施形態に係る表示装置10は、図19に示すカーナビゲーションシステム、テレビジョン装置、デジタルカメラ、ノート型パーソナルコンピュータ、図20に示す携帯電話等の携帯端末装置あるいはビデオカメラなどのあらゆる分野の電子機器に適用することが可能である。言い換えると、本実施形態に係る表示装置10は、外部から入力された映像信号あるいは内部で生成した映像信号を、画像あるいは映像として表示するあらゆる分野の電子機器に適用することが可能である。電子機器は、表示装置に映像信号を供給し、表示装置の動作を制御する制御装置11(図1参照)を備える。

Claims (6)
- 第1副画素、第2副画素、第3副画素及び第4副画素のうち3つの副画素で構成される画素の配列であって、前記副画素の第1列、前記第1列の次列に配列する前記副画素の第2列、前記第2列の次列に配列する前記副画素の第3列及び前記第3列の次列に配列する前記副画素の第4列が周期的に配列される表示部と、
前記第1列、前記第2列、前記第3列及び前記第4列の少なくとも1つに沿う列方向に延びる複数の信号線と、
前記列方向と交差する行方向に延びる複数の走査線と、
複数のスイッチング素子と、を備え、
前記第1列及び前記第3列の少なくとも1つには、隣合う前記走査線の間に共に並んで配置された前記第1副画素及び前記第2副画素が前記列方向に交互に並べられており、
前記第2列及び前記第4列の少なくとも1つには、前記第3副画素及び前記第4副画素の少なくとも1つが隣合う前記走査線の間に配置され、
前記画素の同一行かつ前記第1列、前記第2列、前記第3列及び前記第4列には、前記第1副画素、前記第2副画素、前記第3副画素及び前記第4副画素が含まれ、前記画素の同一行かつ前記第1列及び前記第2列の副画素を含む第1画素は、前記第1画素と行方向に隣合いかつ前記第3列及び前記第4列に含まれる第2画素にはない副画素を有し、
前記第2列及び前記第4列に含まれる1つの副画素は、前記第1列及び前記第3列に含まれる1つの副画素の面積よりも大きく、
1つの前記第1画素における前記第2副画素の前記スイッチング素子に接続される前記信号線と、当該第1画素における前記第1副画素の前記スイッチング素子に接続される前記信号線までの前記行方向の距離は、当該第1画素における前記第2副画素の前記スイッチング素子に接続される前記信号線と、当該第1画素における前記第3副画素又は前記第4副画素の前記スイッチング素子に接続される前記信号線までの前記行方向の距離よりも大きく、
1つの前記画素が含む第1副画素及び第2副画素のいずれか一方の前記スイッチング素子と、当該画素が含む第3画素又は第4画素のいずれかの前記スイッチング素子に接続されている走査線は、当該画素が含む第1副画素及び第2副画素の他方の前記スイッチング素子が接続されている走査線とは異なり、
1つの前記第1画素における前記第1副画素の前記スイッチング素子の前記行方向の位置は、当該第1画素における前記第3副画素の前記スイッチング素子の前記行方向の位置と異なる位置にあり、かつ当該第1画素における前記第2副画素の前記スイッチング素子の行方向の位置と異なる位置にあり、
1つの前記第1画素における前記第1副画素の前記スイッチング素子は、当該第1画素における前記第3副画素の前記スイッチング素子の前記列方向の位置と同じ前記列方向の位置にあり、当該第1画素における前記第2副画素の前記スイッチング素子の列方向の位置とは、異なる列方向の位置にある
表示装置。 - 前記第1列及び前記第3列は、隣合う前記走査線の間に共に配置された前記第1副画素及び前記第2副画素が前記列方向に交互に並べられており、
前記第2列及び前記第4列は、前記第3副画素及び前記第4副画素のうちどちらか一方が隣合う前記走査線の間に配置され、前記第3副画素と前記第4副画素とが前記列方向に交互に並べられており、かつ前記画素の同一行において前記第3副画素及び前記第4副画素が交互に配置されている、請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記第1列は、隣合う前記走査線の間に共に配置された前記第1副画素及び前記第2副画素が前記列方向に交互に並べられており、
前記第3列は、隣合う前記走査線の間に共に配置された前記第1副画素及び前記第3副画素が前記列方向に交互に並べられており、
前記第2列及び前記第4列は、前記第4副画素が隣合う前記走査線の間に配置されている、請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 1つの前記第1画素における前記第2副画素の前記スイッチング素子に接続される前記信号線は、当該第1画素における前記第1副画素の前記スイッチング素子に接続される前記信号線までの距離と、当該第1画素における前記第4副画素の前記スイッチング素子に接続される前記信号線までの距離と、が異なる請求項3に記載の表示装置。
- 前記画素の同一行かつ前記第1列、前記第2列、前記第3列及び前記第4列に含まれる前記第1副画素、前記第2副画素、前記第3副画素及び前記第4副画素は、同じ面積を有している請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置。
- 前記信号線に画像信号を伝送する制御装置をさらに備え、
前記制御装置は、1つの前記第1画素の前記第2副画素に伝送する画像信号を当該第1画素における前記第1副画素に伝送する画像信号よりも1水平画素分ずらして伝送する、請求項1乃至請求項5のいずれか1項に記載の表示装置。
