Claims (13)
- 後面および前記後面と略平行な前面を有する半導体基板と、
前記前面上の垂直空洞面発光レーザー(VCSEL)であって、前記前面と略平行な出力面を有し、レーザー放射が前記出力面と実質的に垂直な方向に出力されるVCSELと、
前記後面上の後面鏡であって、前記後面鏡と前記VCSELとの間で前記半導体基板が前記VCSELの拡張空洞を形成する後面鏡と、
前記VCSEL出力面に接触して形成されたTARヘッドと、
を含む磁気記録ディスクドライブ用の熱アシスト記録(TAR)ヘッドであって、
前記TARヘッドが、
電気絶縁材料の層であって、前記半導体基板の後面および前面に略垂直なディスク対向面を有する絶縁層と、
前記出力面と略平行に向けられた光導波管であって、前記レーザー放射を前記出力面から前記光導波管へ誘導する格子カプラを有する光導波管と、
前記光導波管に結合されていて、前記光導波管から前記レーザー放射を受光するように前記ディスク対向面に配置されている近接場トランスデューサ(NFT)と、
前記ディスク対向面に書き込み極を有する書き込みヘッドと、
前記ディスク対向面に検知エッジを有する磁気抵抗読み出しヘッドと、
を含み、
前記VCSELが、
部分反射出力鏡と、
前記後面鏡と前記部分反射出力鏡との間に配置される部分反射中間鏡と、
内側に開口を有し、且つ前記部分反射中間鏡と前記部分反射出力鏡との間に配置される酸化物層と、
を含む、
熱アシスト記録ヘッド。 - 前記半導体基板が、前記絶縁層の前記ディスク対向面と実質的に同一平面にあるディスク対向面を有する、
請求項1に記載の熱アシスト記録ヘッド。 - 前記半導体基板が、GaAsおよびAlGaAsから選択される材料を含む、
請求項1に記載の熱アシスト記録ヘッド。 - 前記基板に電気接続を提供する第1の電極、および前記出力鏡に電気接続を提供する第2の電極を更に含む、
請求項1に記載の熱アシスト記録ヘッド。 - 前記TARヘッドが更に、磁気透過性材料からなる2個のシールド層を含み、前記読み出しヘッドが前記2個のシールド層の間に配置される、
請求項1に記載の熱アシスト記録ヘッド。 - 前記書き込みヘッドが更に、前記書き込み極に磁気的に結合された戻り極を含む、
請求項1に記載の熱アシスト記録ヘッド。 - 前記書き込みヘッドが更に、電流が通された際に前記書き込み極に磁束を発生させる導電コイルを含む、
請求項1に記載の熱アシスト記録ヘッド。 - 前記導電コイルが前記書き込み極の周囲に巻かれた螺旋コイルである、
請求項7に記載の熱アシスト記録ヘッド。 - 前記導電コイルが平坦なコイルである、
請求項7に記載の熱アシスト記録ヘッド。 - 実質的に同一平面にある前記半導体基板のディスク対向面と前記絶縁層のディスク対向面とがエアベアリング面である、
請求項1に記載の熱アシスト記録ヘッド。 - ディスク基板および前記ディスク基板上に垂直磁気記録層を含む垂直磁気記録ディスクと、
請求項1に記載の熱アシスト記録ヘッドであって、前記NFTと前記垂直磁気記録層との間隔が前記レーザー放射の波長より狭い状態で、前記垂直磁気記録ディスクの近傍に維持される熱アシスト記録ヘッドと、
を含む熱アシスト垂直磁気記録ディスクドライブ。 - 前記垂直磁気記録層が離散的データ島にパターン形成される、
請求項11に記載のディスクドライブ。 - 配列する複数の略矩形な領域を有する半導体ウェハであって、
各領域が、
略平坦な前面および略平坦な後面を有する半導体基板と、
前記前面上の垂直空洞面発光レーザー(VCSEL)と、
前記後面上の後面鏡であって、前記後面鏡と前記VCSELとの間で前記半導体基板が前記VCSELの拡張空洞を形成する後面鏡と、
前記VCSELに形成されていて、光導波管、前記光導波管に結合された近接場トランスデューサ(NFT)、書き込みヘッド、および磁気抵抗読み出しヘッドを有する、格子カプラを含む熱アシスト記録(TAR)ヘッドと、
を含み、
前記VCSELが、
部分反射出力鏡と、
前記後面鏡と前記部分反射出力鏡との間に配置される部分反射中間鏡と、
内側に開口を有し、且つ前記部分反射中間鏡と前記部分反射出力鏡との間に配置される酸化物層と、
を含む、
半導体ウェハ。
