Claims (10)
- 液体を吐出する吐出口と、前記吐出口に液体を供給する供給流路と、前記供給流路内の液体にエネルギーを印加するアクチュエータとを有する液体吐出ヘッドと、
前記吐出口から液体が吐出される程度に前記アクチュエータを駆動する吐出駆動信号と、前記吐出口から液体が吐出されない程度に前記アクチュエータを駆動する不吐出駆動信号とを選択的に前記アクチュエータへと供給する駆動手段と、
画像データに基づいて、前記吐出駆動信号を前記駆動手段に前記アクチュエータへと供給させる印刷制御手段と、
画像データに基づいて、前記吐出口から液体が吐出されてからその次に液体が吐出されるまでの不吐出期間が所定の長さ以上となる場合に、前記不吐出期間の後端部である不吐出駆動期間内に、1又は複数の前記不吐出駆動信号を前記駆動手段に前記アクチュエータへと供給させる不吐出駆動制御手段と、
温度及び湿度の少なくともいずれかを測定する環境測定手段とを備えており、
前記不吐出駆動制御手段が、
前記不吐出駆動期間内で最後に前記不吐出駆動信号を供給してから前記不吐出期間の後端までの期間である空白期間の長さが、前記環境測定手段が測定した温度及び湿度の少なくともいずれかに応じて変化し、前記温度が高いほど前記空白期間が短く、前記湿度が低いほど前記空白期間が短くなるように、前記駆動手段を制御することを特徴とする液体吐出装置。 - 前記吐出口に対向して記録媒体を搬送する搬送手段をさらに備えており、
前記不吐出駆動制御手段が、
前記搬送手段によって記録媒体が搬送方向の記録解像度に対応する単位距離を搬送されるのに要する時間を1印字周期とするとき、前記不吐出駆動期間の長さがn印字周期(n:2以上の自然数)となり、前記空白期間の長さがm印字周期(m:m<nを満たす負でない整数)となり、且つ、前記不吐出駆動期間において先端から(n−m)印字周期の期間に1印字周期ごとに1つの前記不吐出駆動信号を連続して前記アクチュエータへと供給するように、前記駆動手段を制御することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液体吐出装置。 - 前記不吐出駆動期間の長さが固定されていることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液体吐出装置。
- 前記不吐出駆動制御手段は、
前記不吐出駆動期間の長さを、前記所定の長さに対する前記不吐出期間の長さの割合が大きくなるほど大きくなるように設定する不吐出駆動期間設定手段を有していることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液体吐出装置。 - 前記不吐出駆動制御手段が、
前記環境測定手段が測定した温度及び湿度の少なくともいずれかに応じて前記空白期間の長さが1印字周期ずつ変化するように、前記駆動手段を制御することを特徴とする請求項2〜4のいずれか1項に記載の液体吐出装置。 - 前記不吐出駆動制御手段が、
前記環境測定手段が測定した温度及び湿度の少なくともいずれかが所定の条件を満たす場合に、前記空白期間の長さがゼロ印字周期となるように前記駆動手段を制御することを特徴とする請求項2〜5のいずれか1項に記載の液体吐出装置。 - 前記吐出駆動信号には、吐出特性が等しい条件で前記吐出口から吐出される液体の量が異なるように設定された複数種類の信号が含まれ、
前記印刷制御手段は、前記環境測定手段が測定した温度及び湿度の少なくともいずれかが前記所定の条件を満たす場合に、前記不吐出期間の直後に前記駆動手段によって前記アクチュエータに供給される前記吐出駆動信号を、液体の設定量がより大きい信号に変更する信号変更手段を有していることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の液体吐出装置。 - 前記信号変更手段による前記吐出駆動信号の変更は、前記空白期間の省略を伴うことを特徴とする請求項7に記載の液体吐出装置。
- 前記所定の長さが、前記環境測定手段が測定した温度及び湿度の少なくともいずれかに応じて変化し、前記温度が高いほど短く、前記湿度が低いほど短くなることを特徴とする請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載の液体吐出装置。
- 前記不吐出駆動制御手段が、
画像データにおいて前記吐出駆動信号及び不吐出駆動信号がいずれも供給されないことを示すデータを、前記不吐出駆動信号が供給されることを示すデータに変更するデータ変更手段を有していることを特徴とする請求項1〜9のいずれか1項に記載の液体吐出装置。
