Description
a)抗凝集性基(anti−agglomerating group)で官能化されたポリマーの安定な水性分散物を形成するのに充分な条件下で、抗凝集性基を含むエチレン性不飽和モノマーの水性分散物を重合する工程、および
b)前記抗凝集性基で官能化されたポリマーと、少なくとも2つのオキシラン基を有する熱硬化性化合物とを混合して、60℃で10日間熱老化安定である、50〜400nmの範囲の重量平均粒子サイズを有する吸収ポリマー粒子の安定な水性分散物を形成する工程を含む方法である。
脱イオン水(521.8g)、界面活性剤A(63.8g)、BA(957.6g)、MMA(919.3g)、およびMAA(38.3g)を容器内で混合することによりモノマーエマルションが製造された。別のフラスコに脱イオン水(995g)を入れ、次いでN2パージ下で88℃にした。このフラスコにAPS(25gの脱イオン水中2.9g)の溶液およびポリマーシードA(53%EA/47%MMA、45%固形分量、45nm粒子サイズ、29.5g)を入れた。反応器の温度を85℃に維持しつつ、モノマーエマルションが12.5g/分の速度で10分間にわたって、次いで26.4g/分に上げて100分間反応器に供給された。この反応器に、モノマーエマルションフィードと同時に、72.0gの脱イオン水中の2.9gのAPSの混合物が0.75g/分の速度で添加された。
以下の手順は本方法を説明し、他に示されない限りは報告される例の全てについて使用された。DER−331液体エポキシ樹脂、脱イオン水、およびトライトン(TRITON(商標))X−405界面活性剤は表2に示される量でガラスジャー内で混合された。(実施例4については、エポキシ樹脂の添加の前にラテックスのpHはアンモニア溶液の添加によって調節された。)この混合物は磁気攪拌装置で〜15分間攪拌され、次いでPro250携帯型ホモジナイザー(プロサイエンティフィック(Pro Scientific)Inc.)を用いて〜10秒間均質化された。次いで、中間体ラテックス(比較中間体1および2、並びに中間体1〜4)はエポキシエマルションに攪拌しつつ2分間にわたって添加された。このブレンドは30分間攪拌され、30分の時点でさらなる脱イオン水(110g)が添加された。攪拌は30分間続けられ、そしてサンプルは一晩置いておかれた。
脱イオン水(570g)、界面活性剤A(50.5g)、BA(1113.7g)、MMA(1042.5g)、PEM(17.8g〜71.3g)、MAA(0g〜53.5g)、nDDM(21.2g)およびデクエスト(Dequest)2016キレート剤(chelant)を容器内で混合することによりモノマーエマルション混合物が製造された。フラスコに脱イオン水(960g)および界面活性剤A(2.2g)を入れ、次いでN2パージ下で83℃に加熱した。このフラスコに脱イオン水中のAPS(5.5g)の混合物およびモノマーエマルション混合物の一部分(137.5g)を入れた。反応器の温度を85℃に維持しつつ、10分後、フラスコの内容物は17.1g/分の速度で20分間にわたって反応器に供給され、同時に脱イオン水(98g)中のAPS(2.35g)の溶液を0.63g/分の速度で添加し;次いで、これら供給速度はそれぞれ、39.83g/分および1.46g/分に上げられて60分間供給された。
脱イオン水(1085g)および界面活性剤A(18.5g)をフラスコに入れ、次いでN2パージ下で87℃に加熱した。さらに、このフラスコに脱イオン水(25g)中のAPS(2.9g)の溶液、およびポリマーシードA(29.5g)を入れ、次いで、水すすぎ(10.6g)を行った。脱イオン水(521.8g)、界面活性剤A(45.3g)、BA(957.6g)、MMA(900.2g)、MAA(38.3g)、AM(19.1g)およびnDDM(9.6g)を容器内で混合することにより製造されたモノマーエマルション混合物が、12g/分の速度でこのフラスコに供給され、同時に、脱イオン水(72g)中のAPS(2.9g)の溶液が0.74g/分の速度で添加された。85℃の反応器温度を維持しつつ、10分後に、モノマーエマルション供給速度は90分間25g/分に上げられた。
機械式攪拌装置、N2インレットおよび凝縮器を備えた5Lの四つ口フラスコにD.E.R.(商標)(165g)、TRITON(トライトン)X−405界面活性剤(23.8g)および脱イオン水(159.3g)を入れた。この混合物が15分間攪拌され、次いで60℃に加熱された。中間体5(734.2g)をこのフラスコに添加し、温度を50℃で1時間保持した。この混合物は室温まで冷却され、加熱老化の前に一晩置いておかれた。少量の液体エポキシ樹脂がこのジャーの底に相分離したことが観察された。最終サンプルは50.2%固形分およびpH=5.6を有すると決定された。
脱イオン水(800g)、界面活性剤A(43.6g)、EHA(477.3g)、MMA(758.2g)、スチレン(462.5)、AAEM(92.5)およびPEM(59.2g)を容器内で混合することによりモノマーエマルションが製造された。別のフラスコに脱イオン水(600g)および界面活性剤A(0.9g)を入れ、次いでN2パージ下で87℃にした。このフラスコに50gの脱イオン水中のAPS(5.8g)とモノマーエマルション混合物の一部分(60.0g)との混合物を入れた。10分後、フラスコの内容物は12.1g/分の速度で10分間にわたって反応器に供給され、同時に脱イオン水(125g)中のAPS(2.5g)の溶液を0.54g/分の速度で添加し、次いで、86℃の反応器温度を維持しつつ、これら供給速度はそれぞれ24.2g/分および1.09g/分に上げられ、100分間継続された。
脱イオン水(244g)、界面活性剤A(20g)、BMA(206.3g)、MMA(585.8g)、およびグリシジルメタクリラート(33.0g)を容器内で混合することにより第1のモノマーエマルションが製造された。脱イオン水(245.3g)、界面活性剤A(20.0g)、BA(453.8g)、MMA(344.9g)、およびPEM(15.8g)を混合することにより第2のモノマーエマルションが製造された。別のフラスコに脱イオン水(691.2g)を入れ、次いでN2パージ下で87℃にした。このフラスコに44.6gの脱イオン水中のAPS(5.2g)とポリマーシードA(87.5g)との混合物を入れた。86℃の反応器温度を維持しつつ、第一のモノマーエマルションは13.6g/分の速度で10分間にわたって反応器に供給され、同時に脱イオン水(40.1g)中のAPS(2.2g)の溶液の0.53g/分の速度での添加が行われ、次いで、これら供給速度はそれぞれ27.2g/分および1.06g/分に増大させられ、45分間この供給速度を継続した。
金属への直接コーティング(direct−to−metal coating)のための実施例12の吸収ラテックスを使用するこの2成分(2k)配合物が表5に示される。ベンチトップオーバーヘッドミキサーを使用してパートAが配合された。このpHは14%アンモニア水溶液で7〜8.5に調節された。この粘度はストーマー粘度計を用いて測定された。パートBはコーレス溶解機(Cowless dissolver)を用いてグラインドすることにより配合された。Byk(ビック)−019脱泡剤および35%Anquamine(アンクアミン)401硬化剤が攪拌を伴ってグラインドポット(grind pot)内に入れられた。次いで、Ti−Pure(タイ−ピュア)R−706顔料が添加され、コーレス溶解機の速度を約2500RPMまで増大させた。25分後、ヘグマン(Hegman)7+評定が観察され、そのときに追加の硬化剤が、TERGITOL(テルジトル)TMN−3界面活性剤(ザダウケミカルカンパニーまたはその関連会社の商標)および水と共に添加された。このブレンドはさらに15分間攪拌された。次いで、パートBがパートAに添加され、そしてこのブレンドが15分間攪拌され、その時点で最終塗料配合物についてのpHおよびストーマー粘度が測定された。
Claims (2)
- a)抗凝集性基で官能化されたポリマーの安定な水性分散物を形成するのに充分な条件下で抗凝集性基を含むエチレン性不飽和モノマーの水性分散物を重合する工程;および
b)抗凝集性基で官能化されたポリマーと、かかるポリマーに吸収される熱硬化性化合物であって少なくとも2つのオキシラン基を有する熱硬化性化合物とを混合して、60℃で10日間熱老化安定である、50〜400nmの範囲の重量平均粒子サイズを有する吸収ポリマー粒子の安定な水性分散物を形成する工程;
を含む方法であって、
前記抗凝集性基が、アミド基、アセトアセトキシ基、共役塩基を形成するようにpH調節される強プロトン酸、またはこれらの組み合わせから選択され、
前記熱硬化性化合物が、ノボラック樹脂、ジ−、トリ−もしくはテトラグリシジルエーテル、またはジ−、トリ−もしくはテトラグリシジルエステルから選択され、並びに
前記熱硬化性化合物がマイクロ化された水性分散物として混合される方法。 - a)前記熱硬化性化合物がビスフェノールAのジグリシジルエーテル、ビスフェノールFのジグリシジルエーテル、1,4−ブタンジオールジグリシジルエーテル、1,6−ヘキサンジオールジグリシジルエーテル、フタル酸のジグリシジルエステル、ヘキサヒドロフタル酸のジグリシジルエステル、もしくはノボラック樹脂であり;
b)抗凝集性官能基が、アクリルアミド、アセトアセトキシエチルメタクリラート、アセトアセトキシエチルメタクリラートエナミン、p−スチレンスルホン酸ナトリウム、2−アクリルアミド−2−メチルプロパンスルホン酸もしくはその塩、ホスホエチルメタクリラートもしくはその塩、またはこの組み合わせの官能基であり;
c)前記熱硬化性化合物の濃度が前記熱可塑性ポリマー粒子および前記熱硬化性化合物の全重量を基準にして30重量%〜50重量%であり;
d)前記吸収ポリマー粒子の安定な水性分散物の粒子サイズが、150nm〜350nmの範囲の重量平均粒子サイズを有し;並びに
e)抗凝集性官能基の濃度が前記ポリマー粒子の重量を基準にして0.5〜10重量パーセントである;
