Description
平均サイズ約10から20μmのダイヤモンド粒子のある量に、WO05017227に教示された方法に従って、ホウ素と炭素とを含むコーティングを塗布した。ダイヤモンド粒子を、ホウ素とホウ酸の50:50混合物を含む粉末とブレンドすることによって、微粒子物質の層を形成し、これを環状炉の中に入れた。この層を、以下の温度サイクルを用いて、アルゴン雰囲気下で加熱処理した。
・1時間に渡り、温度を摂氏300度まで上げ、
・温度を30分間摂氏300度で維持し、
・次いで、80分間に渡り、摂氏1150度まで上げ、
・この温度を6時間維持し、
・次いで室温まで冷却させた。
・音速:12900から13100m.s−1の範囲、
・密度:2.87g.cm−3、
・Poisson比:0.150〜0.169の範囲、
・剛性率:190〜205GPaの範囲、
・ヤング率:450〜465GPaの範囲、
・体積弾性率:220〜230GPaの範囲。
コーティングされていないダイヤモンド粉末を、平均サイズが10から40μmの範囲であるB4C粒子と、50重量パーセントのダイヤモンド:50重量パーセントのB4Cという割合でブレンドした。プリコーティングされたダイヤモンド粒子が存在しないことを除いては、例1の通りにグリーン体を作製した。

コーティングされたダイヤモンド粒子を例1の通り調製した。
例2に従って作製した、炭化ホウ素及びダイヤモンド複合体の5つの試料、5セットを、異なる厚さ、すなわち4mm、5mm、6mm、7mm及び8mmで作製した。ダイヤモンドを加えていない、炭化ホウ素の5つの試料の別の5セットを同様の条件下で作製した。これらの試料はすべて補助ポリマーとパッケージングすることによって、弾道学的特性試験に適したものにした。
Claims (15)
- ダイヤモンド粒子と、炭化ホウ素粒子と、炭化ケイ素と、未反応ケイ素とを含む炭化ホウ素複合材料であって、2体積パーセント未満の多孔度を有し、前記ダイヤモンド粒子の平均粒径が前記炭化ホウ素の平均粒径から50μm以内である、前記炭化ホウ素複合材料。
- 15重量パーセントから30重量%の炭化ホウ素粒子を含む、請求項1に記載の炭化ホウ素複合材料。
- 2重量パーセント未満のグラファイトを含む、請求項1又は2に記載の炭化ホウ素複合材料。
- 電流を運ぶことができる、請求項3に記載の炭化ホウ素複合材料。
- 複数のダイヤモンド粒子を複数の炭化ホウ素粒子と合わせることによって、ブレンドした混合物を形成するステップと、前記ブレンドした混合物を多孔性グリーン体へと形成するステップと、前記グリーン体を、ケイ素原料と接触させるステップと、前記グリーン体及び前記ケイ素原料を、ケイ素の融点を超える温度にさらすことによって、前記溶融したケイ素を前記グリーン体へと溶浸させ、前記グリーン体中の炭素と反応させて、炭化ケイ素を形成するステップとを含む、請求項1に記載の炭化ホウ素複合材料を製造するための方法。
- 少なくとも20%のダイヤモンド粒子が、炭化物材料でプリコーティングされている、請求項5に記載の方法。
- 請求項1に記載の炭化ホウ素複合材料を含む抗弾道アーマーアセンブリ。
- 第1及び第2の背中合わせの面と、第1及び第2の領域とを含む、偶発的な発射体を無効にする素地を含む、請求項7に記載の抗弾道アーマーアセンブリであって、前記第1の(外側の)面が、偶発的な発射体により近い位置での使用に適応されており、前記第1の領域が、第1の面に隣接しており、前記第2の領域が、第2の面に隣接しており、前記第1の領域が、炭化ホウ素とコーティングされたダイヤモンド粒子とを含み、前記第2の領域が、実質的にダイヤモンドを含まない前記抗弾道アーマーアセンブリ。
- 機械加工、切削、穴あけ用の工具、又は劣化する硬質材料又は研磨材料のための挿入成分であって、請求項1に記載の炭化ホウ素複合材料を含む前記挿入成分。
- 前記ダイヤモンド粒子の平均粒径が前記炭化ホウ素の平均粒径から20μm以内である、請求項1に記載の炭化ホウ素複合材料。
- 10重量パーセントから60重量%のダイヤモンド粒子を含む、請求項1に記載の炭化ホウ素複合材料。
- 30重量パーセントから50重量%のダイヤモンド粒子を含む、請求項1に記載の炭化ホウ素複合材料。
- 7重量%の未反応ケイ素を含む、請求項1に記載の炭化ホウ素複合材料。
- 2000MPaを超えない圧力又は真空で、前記グリーン体及び前記ケイ素原料を、ケイ素の融点を超える温度にさらす、請求項5に記載の方法。
- 450〜465GPaの範囲のヤング率を有する、請求項1に記載の炭化ホウ素複合材料。
