Claims (5)
- 液晶層に電圧が印加されていない状態のときに液晶分子が基板面に対して略垂直に配向するVAN液晶を用いる反射型液晶表示素子において、
無機材料を斜方蒸着することによってつくられ、前記液晶分子のプレチルトによって生じる位相差を補償可能な角度に表面に対して傾斜する光学軸を有する2軸性複屈折体と、
前記2軸性複屈折体とともに設けられ、表面に対して垂直な光学軸を有し、前記液晶層を斜めに透過する光の位相差を補償するとともに、前記2軸性複屈折体を透過することによる位相差を補償する1軸性複屈折体と、
を備えることを特徴とする反射型液晶表示素子。 - 前記1軸性複屈折体は、無機材料からなる高屈折率層と低屈折率層とを交互に積層した構造であることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の反射型液晶表示素子。
- 前記素子表面に垂直に入射する光に対して屈折率が最小となる前記2軸性複屈折体の進相軸の方向と、前記液晶分子を前記素子表面に射影した方向とが一致するように前記2軸性複屈折体と組み合わされたことを特徴とする請求項1乃至3何れかに記載の反射型液晶表示素子。
- 前記斜方蒸着における蒸着方向を前記素子表面に射影した方向に前記進相軸があり、前記斜方蒸着における蒸着方向と、無電圧状態における前記液晶分子の延長方向とが、前記液晶層を透過する光の光軸を介して交差するように、前記2軸性複屈折体が配置されることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4いずれかに記載の反射型液晶表示素子。
- 請求項1乃至4何れかに記載の反射型液晶表示素子によって表示される像を拡大してスクリーンに投映することを特徴とする液晶プロジェクタ。
