Description
本発明の珪素酸化物は、リチウムイオン二次電池の負極活物質に用いられ、SiOxで表される粉末状の珪素酸化物であって、珪素粉末と二酸化珪素粉末の混合原料を、不活性ガス雰囲気または真空中で加熱して生成した気体状のSiOを析出基体に蒸着させ、析出した珪素酸化物を粉砕することにより得られ、光源として封入型光源、検出器として高速検出器を備えたX線回折装置を用いて測定すると、20°≦2θ≦40°にハローが検出され、石英の最強線位置にピークが検出されるとともに、前記ハローの高さP1と前記石英の最強線位置のピークの高さP2がP2/P1≦0.05を満足することを特徴とする珪素酸化物である。
理由1.珪素酸化物の製造時に、加熱によって発生した気体状のSiOとともに、原料である二酸化珪素粉末に含まれる石英の微粉が析出基体に到達し、析出基体上に析出したSiOxに取り込まれる。
理由2.析出基体上に析出した珪素酸化物の粉砕時の衝撃によって、SiOxの一部がSiとSiO2に分離して石英が生成する。
本発明の珪素酸化物およびリチウムイオン二次電池用負極材を用いた、コイン形状のリチウムイオン二次電池の構成例を、前記図1を参照して説明する。同図に示すリチウムイオン二次電池の基本的構成は、上述の通りである。
珪素粉末と二酸化珪素粉末とを配合し、混合、造粒および乾燥した混合造粒原料を原料とし、前記図3に示す装置を用いて析出基板上に珪素酸化物を析出させた。析出した珪素酸化物は、アルミナ製ボールミルを使用して24時間粉砕し、粉末とした。珪素酸化物の原料の反応速度およびボールミルの回転数は、表1に示す条件とした。
上記条件で作製した珪素酸化物について、XRDチャートからピーク高さ比P2/P1を算出した。また、これらの珪素酸化物を負極材に用いた、各試験5個ずつのリチウムイオン二次電池について、初期効率の平均および標準偏差、ならびにサイクル特性の平均および標準偏差を指標として評価を行った。これらの結果を、試験条件と併せて表1に示す。同表には、総合評価も併せて示す。

Claims (3)
- リチウムイオン二次電池の負極活物質に用いられ、SiOxで表される粉末状の珪素酸化物であって、
珪素粉末と二酸化珪素粉末の混合原料を、不活性ガス雰囲気または真空中で加熱して生成した気体状のSiOを析出基体に蒸着させ、析出した珪素酸化物を粉砕することにより得られ、
光源として封入型光源、検出器として高速検出器を備えたX線回折装置を用いて測定すると、20°≦2θ≦40°にハローが検出され、石英の最強線位置にピークが検出されるとともに、前記ハローの高さP1と前記石英の最強線位置のピークの高さP2がP2/P1≦0.05を満足することを特徴とする珪素酸化物。 - 前記SiOxのxが、0.7<x<1.5であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の珪素酸化物。
- 請求項1または2に記載の珪素酸化物を20質量%以上含有することを特徴とするリチウムイオン二次電池用負極材。
