Claims (6)
- 内燃機関から排出された排気が流れるメイン通路と、
このメイン通路の一部をバイパスするように、上流側で該メイン通路から分岐するとともに、下流側で該メイン通路に合流するバイパス通路と、
このバイパス通路に介装されたバイパス触媒コンバータと、
上記メイン通路の上流側の分岐点から下流側の合流点までの間に設けられ、該メイン通路を開閉する流路切換弁と、
上記バイパス通路のバイパス触媒コンバータ下流側に一端が接続され、かつ吸気系へ還流排気を導く排気還流通路と、
上記バイパス触媒コンバータの上流側に設けられた上流側空燃比センサと、
上記バイパス通路の上記バイパス触媒コンバータ下流側でかつ上記排気還流通路の分岐点より上流側の位置に配置された下流側空燃比センサと、
上記バイパス触媒コンバータおよび上記排気還流通路を通して排気還流が行われている状態で上記上流側空燃比センサおよび下流側空燃比センサの出力に基づいて触媒の劣化を判定する劣化診断手段と、
を備え、
上記劣化診断手段は、上記流路切換弁が開状態のまま劣化診断を行うことを特徴とする内燃機関の触媒劣化診断装置。 - 上記流路切換弁が開状態にあるときにメイン通路から排気還流通路へとバイパス通路を逆流する排気の影響を抑制するように、上記下流側空燃比センサが排気還流通路の分岐点から上流側へ所定距離離れて配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の内燃機関の触媒劣化診断装置。
- 上記バイパス通路の上記バイパス触媒コンバータの下流側に第2のバイパス触媒コンバータを備え、上記排気還流通路は、両者の間となる位置から分岐していることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の内燃機関の触媒劣化診断装置。
- 上記バイパス通路の排気還流通路分岐点とメイン通路への合流点との間に、オリフィスが介装されていることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の内燃機関の触媒劣化診断装置。
- 上記流路切換弁は、機関の冷間時に閉状態に、所定の暖機状態のときに開状態に、それぞれ制御されることを特徴とする請求項1〜4のいずれかに記載の内燃機関の触媒劣化診断装置。
- 内燃機関から排出された排気が流れるメイン通路と、
このメイン通路の一部をバイパスするように、上流側で該メイン通路から分岐するとともに、下流側で該メイン通路に合流するバイパス通路と、
このバイパス通路に介装されたバイパス触媒コンバータと、
上記メイン通路の上流側の分岐点から下流側の合流点までの間に設けられ、該メイン通路を開閉する流路切換弁と、
を備えた内燃機関の触媒劣化診断方法であって、
吸気系に還流する還流排気を上記バイパス通路のバイパス触媒コンバータ下流側から取り出すようにし、
機関運転条件が、所定の触媒診断領域内でかつ所定の排気還流領域にあるときに、流路切換弁が開状態のまま、上記バイパス触媒コンバータおよび上記排気還流通路を通して排気還流が行われている状態で上記バイパス触媒コンバータの上流側および下流側の排気空燃比に基づく触媒劣化診断を行うことを特徴とする内燃機関の触媒劣化診断方法。
