Description
これにより、エンジン停止時にクランクシャフトの回転速度を速やかに低下させる機構を備えたエンジンシステムにおいて、運転者の操作に応答したエンジン停止時(代表的には、イグニッションキーのオフ操作時)に、意図しないバルブタイミングの変化が発生することを防止できる。
まず、本発明の実施の形態に係る可変バルブタイミング装置の構成について説明する。
以下では、図1〜図11に示した本実施の形態に従う可変バルブタイミング装置を備えるエンジンがハイブリッド車両に搭載される例について説明する。
本実施の形態に係るエンジンシステムは、ハイブリッド車両以外への適用も可能である。すなわち、ハイブリッド車両でのモータジェネレータMG1とは異なる要素によって、エンジン停止時のエンジン減速制御を実行する構成の車両についても、本発明を適用できる。エンジン減速制御を行なうエンジンシステムは、自動的にエンジン間欠運転を行なう車両に適しているので、ハイブリッド車両以外では、アイドリング時にエンジンを自動的に停止させるいわゆるエコノミーランニングシステム搭載車両等にも好適である。
Claims (10)
- 燃料燃焼により駆動力を発生するエンジンと、
前記エンジンに設けられたインテークバルブおよびエキゾーストバルブの少なくとも一方のバルブの位相を変更する可変バルブタイミング装置と、
前記エンジンの停止指示発生時に、エンジン回転速度を所定の減速パターンに従って低下させるためのトルクを前記エンジンの出力軸に付加するように構成されたエンジン減速制御手段とを備え、
前記可変バルブタイミング装置は、
アクチュエータと、
前記エンジンの作動中において、位相が変更されるバルブを駆動するカムシャフトのクランクシャフトに対する回転位相差であるカムシャフト位相を、前記アクチュエータの作動量に応じた変化量で変化させることによって前記バルブ位相を変更するように構成された変更機構とを含み、
前記変更機構は、前記カムシャフト位相が第1の位相領域にある場合と第2の位相領域にある場合とで、前記アクチュエータの作動量に対する前記カムシャフト位相の変化量の比率が異なり、かつ、前記第1の位相領域では前記第2の位相領域よりも前記比率が小さくなるように構成され、
前記可変バルブタイミング装置は、
前記エンジンの停止指示の発生後に、現時点から前記減速パターンに従って前記エンジンを減速させても、エンジン停止までに前記カムシャフト位相を前記第1の位相領域内へ変更可能な減速可能状態であるか否かを判定する判定手段と、
前記判定手段による判定結果に基づき、前記エンジンの停止指示の発生以後における前記エンジン減速制御手段の動作を制限するための減速制限手段をさらに含む、エンジンシステム。 - 前記減速制限手段は、前記減速可能状態にあると判定されたときに、前記エンジン減速制御手段による前記エンジン回転速度の減速度を前記減速パターンに従った第1の値に設定する一方で、前記減速可能状態にないと判定されたときには、前記減速度を前記第1の値より小さい第2の値に設定する、請求項1記載のエンジンシステム。
- 前記減速制限手段は、前記減速可能状態にないと判定される間は、前記エンジン減速制御手段の動作開始を不許可とする一方で、前記減速可能状態にあると判定された時点から、前記エンジン減速制御手段の動作開始を許可する、請求項1記載のエンジンシステム。
- 前記判定手段は、前記現在のカムシャフト位相と前記第1の位相領域との差に基づき前記減速可能状態であるか否かを判定する、請求項1記載のエンジンシステム。
- 前記判定手段は、前記エンジンの停止指示の発生からの経過時間が基準時間を超えるまでの間前記減速可能状態にないと判定し、かつ、前記経過時間が前記基準時間を超えた後は前記減速可能状態にあると判定する、請求項1記載のエンジンシステム。
- 前記基準時間は、前記エンジン停止指示の発生時における前記カムシャフト位相と前記第1の位相領域との差に応じて設定される、請求項5記載のエンジンシステム。
- 前記エンジンシステムは、前記エンジンの他に駆動力発生源を搭載したハイブリッド車両に搭載され、
前記エンジン減速制御手段は、前記エンジンの出力軸とギヤを介して連結された回転軸を有する回転電機を含む、請求項1に記載のエンジンシステム。 - 前記エンジン減速制御手段は、前記エンジンの出力軸とベルトを介して連結された回転軸を有する回転電機を含む、請求項1に記載のエンジンシステム。
- 前記エンジンの停止指示は、運転者の操作に応答して発生される、請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載のエンジンシステム。
- 前記エンジンの停止指示は、運転者の操作とは独立して、所定の運転状態の発生に応じて自動的に発生される、請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載のエンジンシステム。
