Description
本発明者らは、鋭意検討の結果、本発明を完成するに至った。
本発明の製造方法により得られるトナーは、側鎖に重合性官能基を有するブロック共重合体に、重合性単量体をグラフト重合、このましくはラジカル重合性の重合性単量体の重合体がグラフトしてなるグラフト共重合体と、色材とを少なくとも含有することを特徴とするトナーである。
なお、一般式(1)で表される繰り返し単位構造の−(CH2 −CH)−に結合している側鎖の−OR0 基のみの構造を以下に示す。
また、別のポリアルケニルエーテル繰り返し単位構造の例としては、下記一般式(2)で表される繰り返し単位構造から選ばれるものが挙げられる。
R5 、R6 はそれぞれ独立に水素原子もしくは−CH3 である。
R7 は水素原子、炭素数1から18までの直鎖状、分岐状または環状のアルキル基、−Ph、−Pyr、−Ph−Ph、−Ph−Pyr、−CHO、−CH2 CHO、−CO−CH=CH2 、−CO−C(CH3 )=CH2 または−CH2 COOR8 からなり、R7 が水素原子以外である場合、R7 中の炭素原子に結合している水素原子は炭素数1から4の直鎖状または分岐状のアルキル基または−F、−Cl、−Brと、また芳香環中の炭素原子は窒素原子とそれぞれ置換することができる。R8 は水素原子または炭素数1から5のアルキル基である。Phはフェニル基、Pyrはピリジル基を表わす。)
なお、一般式(2)で表される繰り返し単位構造の−(CH2 −CH)−に結合している側鎖の−OR1 基のみの構造を以下に示す。
また、本発明のブロック共重合体に含まれる、側鎖に重合性官能基を有するポリアルケニルエーテル繰り返し単位構造の具体的な例としては、以下に示すものが挙げられる。この場合も主鎖に結合している側鎖部分の構造のみを下記に示す。主鎖は前記したポリアルケニルエーテル主鎖が好ましく用いられる。
ブロック共重合体成分のほかに、分散剤として界面活性剤、その他の高分子を用いても良い。
黒色の顔料としては、Raven1060、(コロンビアン・カーボン社製)、MOGUL−L、(キャボット社製)、Color Black FW1(デグッサ社製)、MA100(三菱化学社製)等を挙げることができるが、これらに限定されない。
C.I.アシッドブラック,−2,−52,−208;C.I.アシッドイエロー,−11,−29,−71;C.I.アシッドレッド,−1,−52,−317;C.I.アシッドブルー,−9,−93,−254;C.I.アシッドオレンジ,−7,−19;C.I.アシッドバイオレット,−49等の酸性染料、 C.I.リアクティブブラック,−1,−23,−39;C.I.リアクティブイエロー,−2,−77,−163;C.I.リアクティブレッド,−3,−111,−221;C.I.リアクティブブルー,−2,−101,−217;C.I.リアクティブオレンジ,−5,−74,−99;C.I.リアクティブバイオレット,−1,−24,−38;C.I.リアクティブグリーン,−5,−15,−23;C.I.リアクティブブラウン,−2,−18,−33等の反応染料;
C.I.ベーシックブラック,−2;C.I.ベーシックレッド,−1,−12,−27;C.I.ベーシックブルー,−1,−24,;C.I.ベーシックバイオレット,−7,−14,−27;C.I.フードブラック,−1,−2等が挙げられる。
黒色の油溶性染料としては、C.I.Solvent Black−3,−22:1,−50等が挙げられるが、これらに限定されない。
オレンジの油溶性染料としては、C.I.Solvent Orange−1,−40:1,−99等が挙げられるが、これらに限定されない。
バイオレットの油溶性染料としては、C.I.Solvent Violet−2,−11,−47等が挙げられるが、これらに限定されない。
グリーンの油溶性染料としては、C.I.Solvent Green−1,−20,−33等が挙げられるが、これらに限定されない。
以上の色材は樹脂100質量部に対して、好ましくは0.1から20質量部で用いられ、より好ましくは0.2から10質量部で用いられる。
また、本発明のトナーの平均粒径は、0.1μm以上20μm以下が好ましく、より好ましくは1μm以上10μm以下である。
例として具体的な方法を説明する。前記した、重合性単量体に、ワックス、ポリアルケニルエーテル繰り返し単位構造を有するブロック共重合体成分、色材、荷電制御剤、重合開始剤その他の添加剤を加え、ホモジナイザー等で均一に溶解、分散させ、これを水相に展開し攪拌機またはホモジナイザー等により均一に懸濁または乳化する。
本発明の画像形成方法は、本発明のトナーを必須とし、典型的には電子写真方式あるいは電気泳動方式の画像形成方法である。本発明の画像形成方法は画像記録方法であっても画像表示方法であっても良い。画像記録方法、装置としては、電子写真方式の複写機、レーザープリンターが代表的なものとして挙げられる。
なお、以下に示す実施例1〜7において、実施例3,4,6,7は本発明の実施例を示し、実施例1,2,5は参考例を示す。
<ブロックポリマーの合成>
イソブチルビニルエーテル(IBVE)とエチレングリコールモノビニルエーテルメタクリレート(Aブロック)とジエチレングリコールビニルメチルエーテル(Bブロック)からなるブロックポリマーの合成。
イオン交換水700質量部に0.1MNa3 PO4 水溶液510質量部を混合し60℃に加温し、TK式ホモミキサー(特殊機化工業製)を用いて12000rpmで攪拌し、これに1.0MCaCl2 水溶液75質量部を加え攪拌を続けた。これに、スチレン160質量部、銅フタロシアニン顔料8質量部、ブチルアクリレート40質量部、先に合成したブロックポリマー12質量部、ジ−t−ブチルサリチル酸アルミニウム5質量部、ジ−t−ブチルサリチル酸0.2質量部、マイクロクリスタリンワックス(融点45℃)45質量部とアゾビス(2,4−ジメチルバレロニトリル)6質量部を混合したものを加え、60℃、10000rpmで25分間攪拌し、重合体を造粒した。パドル攪拌翼で攪拌しつつ、80℃に昇温し、10時間反応した。重合後、塩酸を加え、ろ過、水洗、乾燥して重合体粒子を得た。得られた粒子100質量部に粒径0.06μmの疎水性酸化チタン粒子を2質量部外添し重合トナー粒子を得た。
また、本発明の上記のトナーは、画像形成方法および画像形成装置に利用することができる。

Claims (3)
- トナーの製造方法であって、下記一般式(1)で表される繰り返し単位構造を有する親水性ブロックセグメントと下記一般式(2)で表される繰り返し単位構造及び下記一般式(3)で表される繰り返し単位構造を有する疎水性ブロックセグメントとを有する両親媒性ブロック共重合体と、重合性単量体及び色材を少なくとも有する反応成分を懸濁重合またはエマルジョン重合し、前記両親媒性ブロック共重合体の側鎖に前記重合性単量体の重合体がグラフトしたグラフト共重合体を生成する工程を有することを特徴とするトナーの製造方法。
- 前記重合性単量体がスチレン系メタクリル系またはアクリル系の単量体である請求項1に記載のトナーの製造方法。
- 前記トナーが湿式トナーである請求項1または2に記載のトナーの製造方法。
