Description
ポリウレタンエラストマーと、その層の重量を基準にして約20〜40重量パーセントのモレキュラーシーブであって、平均粒径が約1〜15ミクロンであり、モレキュラーシーブを基準にして1重量パーセント未満の粒径が約40ミクロンを超えるモレキュラーシーブからなる薄肉物品を提供するものである。
伸び率(%)=100(La−Lb)/Lb
式中、LbおよびLaはそれぞれ、5回の伸縮サイクル前後の張力がかからない状態でのフィルム長さである、
により伸び率を計算した。
数平均分子量が3400のポリエステルグリコール(エチレングリコールおよび1,4−ブタンジオールのモル比60/40の混合物とアジピン酸の反応生成物)と1−イソシアナト−4−[(4−イソシアナトフェニル)メチル]ベンゼン(1.80%NCO、ジイソシアネートと重合性グリコールのモル比1.83:1)を反応させて、イソシアネートを末端とするプレポリマーを生成することによって、ポリウレタンウレアを調製した。このプレポリマーをDMAcに溶解し、その後、エチレンジアミンおよびシクロヘキシルアミンの混合物により連鎖の延長および停止を行い、DMAc中にポリウレタンを17wt%含む溶液を生成した。溶液の粘度は115ポアズであった。全固形物に対して、最終的な混合物中の二酸化チタンが2wt%で、モレキュラーシーブが30wt%になるよう、二酸化チタン(Ti−ピュア(Pure)(登録商標)R−706、本願特許出願人の登録商標)、および、8ミクロンの平均粒径を有し、1wt%未満の粒径が18ミクロンを超えるモレキュラーシーブ(シロシブ(Syrosiv)(登録商標)A−3、ダブリュー・アール・グレース・アンド・カンパニー(W.R.Grace and Company))をポリウレタン溶液に混合した。得られた混合物の粘度をDMAcを追加することにより調整した。1.5ミル(0.038mm)厚のフィルム(「試料1」)をポリウレタン/モレキュラーシーブ混合物からドクターナイフを用いてポリエステルフィルム上に成形し、80℃〜100℃で20〜60分間乾燥し、ポリエステルフィルムから注意深く剥がして目視と手により評価した。
ASTM E96−94を適用して、試料1および比較試料1について、バリヤー性を評価した。全フィルム重量基準で30wt%のモレキュラーシーブを含有する試料1は、24時間で638g/m2の水蒸気透過速度(0.1mm厚のフィルムとしての換算値10g/時/m2)を有することがわかった。これは、モレキュラーシーブを含有しない比較試料1では、24時間で514g/m2(0.1mm厚のフィルムとしての換算値8g/時/m2)の速度であったのに対し、僅かな増加を示したに過ぎない。このような低い水蒸気透過速度は、良好なバリヤー性を示すものである。
モレキュラーシーブの添加が機械的特性に及ぼす影響を明らかにするために、試料1で用いたものと同じポリウレタン/モレキュラーシーブ組成物から、ポリエステルフィルム上に試料2を成形し、乾燥させた。得られた2.8ミル(0.07mm)厚のポリウレタンフィルムを、ポリエステルフィルムとともに適当なサイズに切断し、ポリウレタンフィルムをポリエステルフィルムから注意深く剥がし、ポリウレタンの特性をインストロン(Instron)(登録商標)引張試験機により測定した。比較試料1と同じポリウレタン溶液組成物から、比較試料6を成形し、試験用に同様の処理を施した。応力の結果は、伸び率100%において、試料2では144psi(0.99メガパスカル)、比較試料6では291psi(2.00メガパスカル)であり、通常の装着時の伸びでは応力が有利に減少していることを示している。試料2は、また、有利なことに、伸び率が比較試料6(27%)に比べて低い値(22%)を示した。
なお、以下に本明細書に記載の発明の種々の態様につき列記する。
1.少なくとも1つの表面層を含む薄肉物品であって、前記表面層が、
ポリウレタンエラストマーと、
前記層の重量を基準にして約20〜40重量パーセントのモレキュラーシーブであって、平均粒径が約1〜15ミクロンであり、モレキュラーシーブを基準にして1重量パーセント未満の粒径が約40ミクロンを超えるモレキュラーシーブと
からなることを特徴とする薄肉物品。
2. 水蒸気透過速度が約50g/hr/m 2 未満であり、伸び率100%における応力が約1.4メガパスカル以下であることを特徴とする前記1.に記載の薄肉物品。
3. 前記ポリウレタンは、ポリエステルグリコールと、ジイソシアネートと、ジアミン連鎖延長剤との反応生成物を含むことを特徴とする前記1.に記載の薄肉物品。
4. 前記モレキュラーシーブは物品の重量を基準にして約25〜35重量パーセント存在することを特徴とする前記2.に記載の薄肉物品。
5. 計算した水蒸気透過速度が約20g/hr/m 2 未満であることを特徴とする前記1.に記載の薄肉物品。
6. モレキュラーシーブを実質的に含まないポリウレタンエラストマーからなる第2の層をさらに含むことを特徴とする前記1.に記載の薄肉物品。
7. モレキュラーシーブを含む前記層が前記物品の内側表面層であり、前記第2の層が前記物品の外側の層であることを特徴とする前記6.に記載の薄肉物品。
8. 伸び率(percent set)が、約25%未満であることを特徴とする前記3.に記載の薄肉物品。

- 少なくとも1つの表面層を含む薄肉物品であって、前記表面層が、
ポリウレタンエラストマーと、
前記層の重量を基準にして20〜40重量パーセントのモレキュラーシーブであって、平均粒径が1〜15ミクロンであり、モレキュラーシーブを基準にして1重量パーセント未満の粒径が40ミクロンを超えるモレキュラーシーブと、
からなることを特徴とする薄肉物品。
