Claims (7)
- 階調を多数の輝度領域に分割する段階と、
外部から入力されるデータの輝度成分を抽出する段階と、
前記輝度成分をフレーム単位のヒストグラムで分析し、最頻値及び平均値の中から少なくとも一つ以上を抽出する段階と、
前記抽出された最頻値及び平均値の中から少なくとも一つ以上が属する前記輝度領域に対応するようにバックライトの輝度を制御する段階と
を含み、
前記多数の輝度領域中少なくとも一つ以上の領域は以前のバックライト輝度値が維持される領域である
ことを特徴とする液晶表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記多数の輝度領域別で互いに異なる輝度の光が発生されるように前記バックライトの輝度を制御する
ことを特徴とする請求項1記載の液晶表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記最頻値は前記ヒストグラムで最も多い階調を占める値である
ことを特徴とする請求項1記載の液晶表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記ヒストグラムで最頻値を抽出して、前記最頻値が属する前記輝度領域に対応するように前記バックライトの輝度を制御する
ことを特徴とする請求項2記載の液晶表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記ヒストグラムで平均値を抽出して、前記平均値が属する前記輝度領域に対応するように前記バックライトの輝度を制御する
ことを特徴とする請求項2記載の液晶表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記ヒストグラムで前記最頻値の占める割合が40%以上の場合は前記最頻値を抽出し、その以外の場合には前記平均値を抽出した後、前記最頻値または前記平均値が属する前記輝度領域に対応するように前記バックライトの輝度を制御する
ことを特徴とする請求項2記載の液晶表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記輝度領域に含まれる階調が高くなるほど高い輝度の光が供給されるように前記バックライトの輝度を制御する
ことを特徴とする請求項2記載の液晶表示装置の駆動方法。
