Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 本発明は使用中使用者に面する液体透過性シート、使
用中使用者から離れた側にある吸収剤パッドおよび液体
不透過性シートより成る使い捨ておむつ、失禁保護物、
衛生タオルまたは類似の物品のような使い捨て吸収物品
に関するものである。
前述の種類の使い捨て物品としての吸収物体またはパ
ッド、すなわち一回のみ使用するための物品は多年にわ
たって通常基本的に吸収繊維材料から製作されてきた。
使用された繊維材料はもっとも多くはセルロース毛羽材
料であった。近年になっても毛羽よりもはるかに大きい
吸収容量を持った吸収材料が開発され、超吸収剤と呼ば
れるこれらの高度に吸収性の材料を衛生物品に組み合わ
せることが次第に一般的になった。超吸収剤はそれら自
身の重量の数倍の量の液体を吸収することができるの
で、このような材料を衛生物品に使用することによって
セルロース毛羽のような他種類の吸収材料から作られた
ものにくらべてかなりの節約ができるようになった。こ
れによって物品を薄く作ることができ、より分離して着
用できるので非常に都合が良く、成人の失禁保護用とし
て特に重要な進歩である。
しかし超吸収剤はそれらの大きい液体吸収容量と言う
点は好都合であるが、またある種の欠点を持つことが知
られている。たとえば超吸収剤が液体を吸収した時、ゲ
ル粘着として知られている現象が起る。膨潤の結果、重
合体ゲルを含む超吸収剤の利用されていない吸収容量へ
の流入は拒否され、その結果吸収さえれなかった液体は
ゲル粘着のために吸収パッドの表面にそって制御されな
いで流れ、結局パッドから漏れて着用者に不快感を与え
る原因となる。また別の超吸収剤は異った速度で液体を
吸収することが知られている。ある超吸収剤の吸収速度
は衛生用製品に実際的に用いられる吸収剤としては遅す
ぎる。他の超吸収剤は圧縮された時、そこに貯えられた
液体を保持することができず、結局液体は物品の表面材
料まで逆流して表面材料を湿潤させるか、または濡らし
て着用者に多大の不快感を与える所の、再湿潤として知
られている欠点を有する。
いくつかの努力がこの問題を解決するために試みられ
たが、これらの努力のいずれも今に至るまで満足すべき
結果を得ることができなかった。ゲル粘着の解決法の一
つは特にGB2145661として公開されており、それによれ
ば超吸収材料は超吸収剤層の間の液体分散層を伴った分
離層内に配置されている。しかしこの刊行物に挙げられ
た超吸収剤は相互に同じ様式のものであり結局着用者は
衛生物品の吸収特性に関しては超吸収剤の特性およびそ
の機能にまかせざるを得ない。U.S.4578068は層の間に
配置された超吸収剤を備えた繊維材料の複数の層を含む
吸収パッドについて記述している。この刊行物によれば
これらの超吸収剤の特性は公開されていないが超吸収剤
は相互に同じ種類であっても良く、または相互に異った
超吸収剤の混合物を含んでいても良い。
本発明の目的は先行する既知の吸収パッドに関しより
改善された吸収特性を有する吸収パッドを含む吸収物品
を供給することにあり、前記吸収パッドは吸収速度およ
び非常に良好な液体保持性のような吸収パッドの本質的
にな特性を兼ね備えている。
本発明によって構成された吸収パッドを含む吸収物品
は、根本的に吸収パッドが少なくとも二つのそれぞれ別
個の吸収速度および液体保持能力によって区別される、
相互に異なった超吸収剤を組み合わせた吸収パッドによ
って特徴づけられている。
液体を吸収する吸収パッドの能力は相互に吸収速度お
よび再湿潤傾向がそれぞれ異なる二つの超吸収剤をパッ
ド中に組み合わせることによって実質的に改善されるこ
とが意外にも発見された。本発明にとって異なった超吸
収剤は吸収パッドまたは物体の分離された層または分離
された領域に配置されていることが非常に重要である。
吸収パッドは前記の吸収剤が相互に混合されているより
も、超吸収剤が相互に分離して配置される時にはるかに
良好な吸収特性を有することが発見された。同様に二つ
の超吸収剤の組み合わせは、単一の超吸収剤が吸収パッ
ドに組み入れられ他のものを除外した場合に比較しては
るかに良好な吸収性を備えている。吸収パッド内の超吸
収剤の相互関係関係位置はまた極めて重要である。高い
吸収速度を示す超吸収剤が着用者に面した側面、すなわ
ち液体を受け止める側から見て低い再湿潤傾向を示す超
吸収剤の下に配置された場合には、超吸収剤の相対的配
置が逆にされた場合よりも良好な吸収特性を得ることが
できる。
本発明によって構成された吸収物品を添付図面に示す
例証の実施態様を参照してさらに詳細に説明する。
第１図および第２図は使い捨ておむつとして想定され
た、好ましくは非織製繊維布帛によって作られた液体透
過性シート３を含む吸収物品１を示す。液体透過性シー
ト３はおむつの端部４で従来法たとえば接着結合剤によ
って液体不透過性シート６に結合されている。液体不透
過性シート６はたとえばポリエチレンから成り、液体が
着用者の衣料に接触してくるのを防ぎ、またおむつに吸
収された液体がそれから漏れてくるのを防ぐように機能
する。
液体透過性シート３の下に繊維詰め物５が配置されて
いる。繊維詰め物はゆるい構造をしており、弾性的に活
性でかつ乾いた状態でも湿った状態でも安定した形状を
している。詰め物は天然繊維またはポリエステル、ポリ
プロピレンまたはポリエチレン繊維、またはそれらの混
合物のような合成繊維を含んでいる。二成分繊維と呼ば
れる繊維はこの点に関して適当な材料であり、たとえば
ポリプロピレン／ポリエチレン、ポリエステル／ポリエ
ステル、またはポリエステル／ポリエチレン等の二つの
種類のポリマーによって構成された繊維を意味する。繊
維詰め物５はその構成に関しては結束されていても良く
または結束されていなくても良い。熱結合剤および接着
結合剤は繊維詰め物構造を結束する手段の一例である。
接着結合剤はたとえばラテックス結合剤であっても良
い。
一般に参照番号２で示される吸収体は繊維詰め物５と
液体不透過性シート６との間に着用者から離れて配置さ
れる。吸収パッド２は複数の間隔維持用分散層７および
前記層の間に配置された超吸収材料8,9とから成る。第
２図の実施態様の吸収パッドはその数が三より多くても
良いが、この場合は三つの間隔維持用分散層７を含んで
いる。層７はたとえば一またそれ以上の薄織物の層を含
んでいても良くまた非織布または圧縮セルロース毛羽の
ような他の材料を用いても良い。本発明にとって超吸収
剤層8,9は相互に分離して保たれ、層９は層８よりも、
物品を着用する者に接近して配置されることが重要であ
る。このようにして第２図の実施態様の場合には薄織物
７は詰め物５のすぐ下に配置され、引続き超吸収剤層
９、薄織物層７、超吸収剤層８および薄織物層７によっ
て継続される。層8,9の内の超吸収剤はたとえば繊維形
態のような他の形態も受け入れられるが好ましいのは粉
末形態である。層９内の超吸収剤は非常に良好な液体保
持特性、すなわち高い表面乾燥性および低い再湿潤傾向
を示す超吸収剤を含んでいる。このような超吸収剤はま
た高度なゲル強度によって特徴づけられる。層８の内の
超吸収剤は他面において極めて高い吸収速度を示す超吸
収剤を含んでいる。
上記の極度に異なった吸収特性を有する超吸収剤を使
用することによって吸収パッド全体として、吸収速度お
よび再湿潤傾向に関して驚く程高度な、予期しなかった
結果が得られた。このことは以下の実施例によってさら
に明らかにされる。
第３図および第４図に示す吸収物品１′は失禁保護用
として考案されたものである。繊維詰め物５、吸収パッ
ド２および液体不透過性シート６の選択および配置に関
して失禁保護物１′の構成はおむつ１のそれと同様であ
る。第1,2図および第3,4図の参照記号は同一要素に対し
ては同一である。
失禁保護物１′はおむつ１とはそれぞれの番号におい
て異なっているが、第１図および第２図のおむつ１と同
様に失禁保護物１′は液体透過性シート３、すなわち使
用中着用者にもっとも接近して配置される非織製材料を
含んでいる。このシートはしかし失禁保護物の縁全体に
わたって包囲している。
失禁保護物１′は溶着縫目または接着結合剤によって
中央部12および二つの縁部13を形成する二つの縦方向に
伸びる湾曲した折りたたみ線10によって分割されてい
る。折りたたみ線10の意図は端部13を前記の線にそって
上向きに折りたたみ、かつ前記の上向きに折りたたまれ
た端部を、たとえば結合剤または溶着縫目のような接合
手段14の援助によって永久的な上向き位置に固定し、端
部13が物品の横方向における密閉堤防として機能する三
次元的な溜め池状の吸収物品を得ることである。
部分12,13は相対的に延長されており、すなわち物品
の縦方向におけるそれらの延長部分は、その物品の横方
向における延長部分よりも大きい。失禁保護物の端部は
たとえばそれが溶着された継手または接着された継手の
形態であっても良い継手11を備えている。
折りたたみ線10が溶着継手または縫目を備えている場
合、このような継手はたとえば超音波溶着、衝撃溶着ま
たは高周波溶着のような適当な従来の溶着技術によって
製造することができる。折りたたみ線10はまた第３図に
示す湾曲した形状の代りに直線状またはアーチ状の形と
することもできる。
折りたたみ線10は連続していても付連続でも良い。た
とえば折りたたみ線は突き通し式溶着による破断曲線で
形成されていても良い。
着用者の方向から見て吸収パッド２の一番下に配置さ
れるのは失禁保護物１′の縁部および端部にそって少々
上へ伸び、使用中着用者に面する失禁保護物１′の側面
上の繊維詰め物５の上にいく分かかっている液体不透過
性シート６である。液体不透過性シート６の延長部は第
３図において破線17で示されている。
接着層15は失禁保護物の下側に配置されており、それ
によって保護物は着用者の下着へ着脱可能に取り付けら
れる。保護物１′を使用する前に接着層15は好ましくは
シリコン加工されるかまたは少し異なった方法の剥離剤
で処理された保護層16によって保護されており、保護物
１′が用いられる場合には保護材料はすぐに取り除くこ
とができ、それによって接着層15が活性化される。
本発明による吸収物品の吸収特性の再湿潤傾向に関し
ては下記の実施例について説明する。
実施例 １ ６種類の超吸収剤の吸収速度がボルテックス解析法に
よって測定された。６種類の試験された超吸収剤はすべ
て商業的に入手可能であり、アコーリックCA Ｗ−４、
ウォータロックJ550、アリドール1125、アリドール109
2、サンウエットIM2200DおよびサンヨーPA200Gの商標名
で販売されている。
9g/lのNaCl溶液50mlを入れたビーカーを磁気攪拌器の
上に置く。攪拌器は600±20rpm.の速度で回転するよう
に設定する。結果として生ずる渦が安定したら2gの超吸
収剤を渦の外側へ入れるようにビーカー内に注ぐ。測定
は超吸収剤をビーカー内に加えた瞬間から渦が消えて安
全に滑らかな表面が得られる瞬間までの時間を計測す
る。手続を必要な回数繰り返す。
次の結果が得られる。
ウォータロックJ550、アリドール1092およびアリドー
ル1125は他の試験された超吸収剤よりもはるかに短い吸
収時間を有することが判った。ウォータロックJ550は非
常に高い吸収速度を有する超吸収剤の例として実施例３
から５に用いられた。
実施例 ２ 実施例１において吸収速度が測定されたのと同様の超
吸収剤のゲル強度について測定を行った。
ゲル強度の測定はキャリーメッド（Carri−Med）C.S.
レノメータを使用して行われた。測定は次の指標につい
て測定された。
0.9％のNaCl溶液30mlが100mlビーカー内に流し込まれ
磁気攪拌器による攪拌中に1.00gの超吸収剤が溶液に加
えられた。攪拌が止められると超吸収剤が存在する液の
全量を吸収してしまった場合には攪拌を中止しその後で
発生したゲルは一時間放置される。ゲルはそれから混合
され5mlのサンプルが採取される。サンプルは底部板の
中央部に置かれその後で測定手続きが始められる。
表２に3mJの入力エネルギーに関して得られた値を示
す。
アコーリックCA Ｗ−４、サンウェットIM2200Dおよ
びサンヨーPA200Gは高いゲル強度を示すが他の超吸収剤
は適度または低いゲル強度を示す。高いゲル強度と低い
再湿潤傾向との間の関係、すなわち高い液体保持性は、
明らかな相関関係は存在しないとしても認められること
ができる。この関係の完全な説明を行うことは意図しな
いが、強力に架橋結合した。濃密で硬いゲルは逆の性質
を有するゲルよりも圧縮することが難しく、結局最初に
示した種類のゲルから吸収された液体を圧迫することは
後で示した種類のゲルを圧迫するよりも困難である。さ
らに、強力に架橋結合した超吸収剤の大きい吸入力は前
記の吸収剤の低い再湿潤傾向に寄与する。高度の架橋結
合は微細な毛細管システムを生じ次に高い吸入力を生じ
る。低い再湿潤傾向はゲルに異なった様式の表面処理を
施すことによっても得ることができる。
実施例 ３ 実施例１および２に列挙した超吸収剤を再湿潤性につ
いて試験した。
5gの超吸収剤をリベロスーパー（Libero Super）の商
標名で販売されているおむつの長方形の吸収パッドの底
部層を形成するように均一に塗布した、。0.9％のNaCl
溶液100mlをパイプを通しておむつの湿潤位置上に注い
だ。おむつが液体を吸収するのに要する時間を測定し記
録した。10分後、直径80mmの濾紙を湿潤位置上に置き、
1.5Kgの荷重を15秒間負荷した。濾紙を前記荷重の適用
前後で計量し再湿潤を記録した。
この測定法は超吸収剤が吸収物品に組み合わされた時
に超吸収剤が液体を吸収しかつ荷重を負荷された時に前
記液体を保持する能力を測定をする方法を備えている。
結果を表３に示す。
アコーリックCA Ｗ−４およびサンヨーPA200Gは試験
された超吸収剤中もっとも低い再湿潤傾向を示し、これ
は実施例２で測定されたゲル強度と一致する。アコーリ
ックCA Ｗ−４は非常に高い液体保持性を有する表面乾
燥超吸収剤の一例として次の実施例に用いられた。
実施例 ４ 二つの相互に分離された超吸収剤層を組み合わせた吸
収パッドまたは吸収体について吸収速度、傾斜平面にお
ける液体漏れおよび再湿潤を測定した。その結果を超吸
収剤の混合物の層より成る吸収パッドを含んだ参照物体
に関して得られた結果として比較した。
第一に挙げられた吸収パッドは粉末形態で配置された
2.5gのアコーリックCA Ｗ−４を含む上部薄織物層およ
び液体収容表面材料として2.5gのウォータロックJ550を
含む底部薄織物層から成っている。
最後に挙げられた吸収体は種々の量のアコーリックCA
Ｗ−４およびウォータロックJ550の混合物を含有する
薄織物複層体である。
すべての参考品はシセイダ（Shiseida）によって製造
された非織製材料および吸収パッドの上面に置かれたダ
クロンの商標名で販売されている二つの繊維詰め物を含
んでいる。
吸収速度 参考物は平らに置かれ0.9％のNaCl溶液100mlをそれぞ
れ物体上に７秒間注ぎ物体が液体を吸収するに要する時
間を計測した。（視覚観察）結果を下記の表４に示す。
傾斜平面における液体漏れ 参考物は傾斜平面上に置かれ、前記平面の水平面に対
する角度は30％である。0.9％のNaCl溶液100mlを物体の
上端に７秒間注ぐ。吸収されなかった液体の量は物体の
下端において集め計量する。結果を下記の表４に示す。
再湿潤 3.5Kgの板を参考物の頂部に置き0.9％のNaCl溶液を参
考物の上部に注ぎ、物体は液体を吸収するように３分間
放置される。重量5g、直径50mmの濾紙を濡れた位置に置
き8Kg/dm2の圧力を掛け一分間放置する。
濾紙を計量し前記の紙の増加重量をもって再湿潤計量
値とする。結果を下記の表４に示す。
アコーリックCA Ｗ−４はALと、ウォータロックJ550
はWLと略記する。
比較的大きい比率、すなわち実施例において少なくと
も2/5の比率で急速吸収性の超吸収剤を含む参考物は超
吸収剤が混合されていても分離されていても、吸収時間
は短いことが見出され、一方超吸収剤が相互に分離され
ている参考物は傾斜平面における液体漏れおよび再湿潤
に関して、同じ超吸収剤の混合物より成る層を含んだ参
考物よりもはるかに良好な値を示すことが見出された。
実施例 ５ 種々の異なった超吸収剤を相互に分離した層に配置し
た一連の参考物に関して、吸収速度、傾斜平面における
液体漏れおよび再湿潤を測定した。解析は実施例４に関
して列挙したのと同様な手法によって行われた。すべて
の場合、吸収パッドは2.5gの超吸収剤を含んだ上部薄織
物複層体、および上部複層体の超吸収剤とは異なった2.
5gの超吸収剤を含む下部薄織物複層体とを備えている。
得られた値を下記の表５に示す。
結果として実施例１においてもっとも速い吸収速度を
示した「ウォータロックJ550」超吸収剤が存在する場合
に吸収時間が非常に短い事が判った。もっとも低い再湿
潤傾向は実施例２においてもっとも高いゲル強度を示
し、実施例３において非常に低い再湿潤傾向を示した
「アコーリックCA Ｗ−４」を含む吸収パッドによって
得られた。
上層における低い再湿潤傾向の超吸収剤と、下層にお
ける高い吸収速度の超吸収剤との組み合わせは傾斜面に
おける液体漏れに関して最良の結果を与える。再湿潤傾
向もこの組み合わせがもっとも良い。
実施例 ６ 超吸収剤を種々の量で組み合わせた参考物の群につい
て吸収速度、傾向平面における液体漏れ、および再湿潤
を測定した。この測定は実施例４および５に列挙された
ものと同様の方法で行われた。吸収パッドはアコーリッ
クCA Ｗ−４の上部薄織物複層体およびウォータロック
J550の下部薄織物複層体より成る。ある例においては一
つの超吸収剤が除かれ、すなわち問題の吸収パッドは一
つだけの超吸収剤を含むただ一つの層より成っている。
平均測定値を下記の表６に示す。表６においてアコー
リックCA Ｗ−４はAL、ウォータロックJ550はWLと略記
する。
表６から急速吸収性の超吸収剤が存在しない場合にお
いてはその他の場合よりも吸収時間がはるかに長いこと
が判るであろう。単にウォータロックJ550だけを含んだ
吸収パッドにおいて他の吸収パッドよりも高い再湿潤値
が得られている。傾斜平面における液体漏れに関して得
られた値は相方の種類の超吸収剤の存在が最良の結果を
備えることを示している。
本発明は実施例によっても、また図面に描かれた実施
態様のいずれによっても拘束されるものではなく、改善
を行うことは可能であるがそれは次に挙げる請求の範囲
内にあるものであることは理解されるであろう。
たとえば超吸収剤を垂直に重ねた関係位置に配置する
代りに、低い再湿潤傾向を示す超吸収剤を液体収容領域
（湿潤位置と呼ばれる）にもっとも近く配置することが
可能であり、かつ急速吸収性の超吸収剤を前記の湿潤位
置の外側の分離された領域、たとえば前記の湿潤位置の
周囲の円形領域に配置することも可能である。
さらに吸収パッドを実質的に異なった吸収特性を有す
る二つ以上の相互に異なった超吸収剤から構成すること
も可能であることは理解されるであろう。
超吸収剤を少なくとも二つの材料層の間に、すなわち
複層形態で配置する代りに超吸収剤を材料層上に配置す
るかまたは前記材料層内に混合して配置することも可能
であり、この後者の場合には毛羽の層を含むことが好ま
しい。
本発明は前述のおむつまたは失禁保護物に関して例証
する実施態様について説明されているが、本発明はたと
えば衛生タオルまたはパンティ保護物のような他の吸収
物品についても適用できることは理解されるであろう。
4.図面の簡単な説明 第１図は本発明による吸収物品の使用中使用者に対す
る側面を観察者に向けて上から見た図である。
第２図は第１図に示された物品の第１図の線II−IIに
関する断面図である。
第３図は本発明の吸収物品の他の実施態様における、
使用中使用者に対する側面を観察者に向けて上から見た
図である。
第４図は第３図の吸収物品の同図の線IV−IVに関する

    (57)【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】使用中着用者に面する液体透過性シート
    （３）、吸収剤パッド（２）、及び使用中着用者から離
    れた側にある液体不透過性シート（６）を含むおむつ、
    失禁保護物、衛生タオル等の如き一回のみ使用のための
    吸収物品であって、 ａ）吸収パッドは少なくとも二つの相互に異なった超吸
    収剤を含有し、 ｂ）相互に異なった超吸収剤は少なくとも二つの分離さ
    れた層（8,9）内に配置され； ｃ）前記層は一つまたはそれ以上の間隔維持分散層
    （７）によって相互に分離され； ｄ）一つの超吸収剤層（８）は高吸収速度を示す超吸収
    剤を含有し； ｅ）他の超吸収剤層（９）は圧力を受けた時に高液体保
    持能力を有する超吸収剤を含有する吸収物品において 圧力下において高液体保持能力を示す超吸収剤を含有す
    る超吸収剤層（９）が、物品が着用された時に、湿潤位
    置の近傍に置かれる吸収パッドの一部分内に配置され；
    かつ高吸収速度を示す超吸収剤を含有する超吸収剤層
    （８）は最初に挙げられた超吸収剤層（９）の周囲に配
    置されていることを特徴とする吸収物品。
  2. 【請求項２】超吸収剤層（8,9）は少なくとも二つの材
    料層（７）の間に配置された超吸収剤を含有することを
    特徴とする請求の範囲１に記載の物品。
  3. 【請求項３】超吸収剤層（8,9）は材料層上に置かれた
    超吸収剤を含有することを特徴とする請求の範囲１に記
    載の物品。
  4. 【請求項４】少なくとも一つの超吸収剤層（8,9）は材
    料層（７）の内に混合された超吸収剤を含有することを
    特徴とする請求の範囲１または３に記載の物品。
  5. 【請求項５】材料層（７）は薄織物、非織製材料、毛
    羽、生綿または有孔プラスチックフイルムから形成され
    ていることを特徴とする請求の範囲２乃至４のいずれか
    一つに記載の物品。
  6. 【請求項６】繊維詰め物（５）は液体透過性シート
    （３）と吸収パッド（２）との間に配置されていること
    を特徴とする前述の請求の範囲１乃至５のいずれか一つ
    に記載の物品。
