Abstract
【解決手段】複数のサブ画素からなる画素を2次元状に配置した表示領域を有し、前記画素は、サブ画素ごとに、発光部に対する光反射部の高さを調整している表示素子が提供されることで、画素の輝度を向上させることができる。本技術は、例えば、有機EL表示素子等の自発光型の表示素子に適用することができる。

図1は、本技術を適用した表示素子の一実施の形態の構成の例を示すブロック図である。
ところで、有機EL表示素子において、画素を構成する各サブ画素の輝度を向上させるためには、サブ画素のサイズを変えることで、対応することが可能となる。しかしながら、画素のうちの特定のサブ画素のサイズを大きくして、発光面積を増大させる方法をとった場合には、画素ピッチが変わってしまうため、高精細化が困難となる。
