Claims (3)
- 平坦部と、該平坦部から突出する凸部とを有する基板と、
前記凸部によって支持される電極と、
前記凸部の内部に形成され、前記電極に印加される電圧を用いて変調される光を導波する光導波路とを備え、
前記凸部は、前記光導波路により導波される光が分布する光分布領域のうち前記電極側に存在する一部の領域を収容し、
前記平坦部を基準とした前記凸部の先端の高さは、前記凸部の突出方向に沿った前記光分布領域の幅よりも小さく、
前記凸部の先端の幅は、前記凸部の突出方向に直交する方向に沿った前記光分布領域の幅よりも小さい
ことを特徴とする光変調器。 - 前記凸部の先端の高さは、前記凸部の突出方向に沿った前記光分布領域の幅の0.6倍よりも小さい
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の光変調器。 - 前記基板は、LiNbO3、LiTaO3及びPLZTのうちいずれか一つにより形成される
ことを特徴とする請求項1又は2に記載の光変調器。
