Abstract
【解決手段】本発明は、トナーを担持する被覆層5を有し、この被覆層5に担持させたトナーを感光ドラム12に供給して当該感光ドラム12上に可視画像を形成させる現像ローラ1である。現像ローラ1は、被覆層5を形成する弾性層3の表面3fのJIS10点平均粗さ (Rz)が4〜10μmの範囲であり、且つ、その鏡面光沢度Gs(85°)が1.5〜5%の範囲である。

Description
下記組成の基材ポリマーを混合した後、硬化剤を添加して、あらかじめシャフト2を配置しておいた金型内に注型し、90℃で8時間硬化させて、シャフト2の外周に弾性層3を形成した。弾性層3は、これを脱型した後、それぞれ条件を変えて表面3fを研削した。
ポリエーテルポリオール(商品名:SBU 0610) 100質量部
シリコーン界面活性剤(商品名:BY16−201) 5質量部
ジブチルチンジラウレート 0.01質量部
アセチレンブラック 3質量部
硬化剤
ウレタン変性MDI(商品名:スミジュールPF) 17.5質量部
(1)鏡面光沢度(Gs)
各ローラ本体の鏡面光沢度については、ローラ本体の軸方向及び円周方向で偏りが無いように、図4(a)に示す状態に保持したときの頂点について、図4(b)に示す計6点を、「No.4601 ガードナー・ヘイズグロス計」(BYKガードナー社製)を用い、[JIS Z8741]に準拠して、軸方向に沿って入射角85°で計測を行い、これら6点の平均値を求めた。
(2)表面粗さ(Rz)
各ローラ本体の表面について、表面粗さ計サーフコム590A(東京精密社製)を用い、軸方向に対して直交する向き(ローラ本体の回転方向)に測定長さ2.4mm、測定速さ0.3mm/sec、カットオフ波長0.8mmで、ローラ本体の軸方向及び円周方向で偏りが無いように、300個所以上測定した値を平均して10点平均粗さ[JISB0601]を求めた。
(3)トナー搬送量(mg/cm2)
各現像ローラを図1に示した現像ユニットに装着し、50mm/secの周速で回転させることにより現像ローラの表面にトナーを均一に付着させた後、この付着したトナーを、吸引式小型帯電量測定装置(トレック・ジャパン株式会社製)を用いて吸引すると共に当該吸引部分の面積を測定し、単位面積あたりのトナー搬送量(mg/cm2)を求めた。
(4)画像品質評価(かぶり)
各現像ローラについて、その外径を20.00±0.05mmとし、金属シャフトを保持した状態で測定した外径振れを0.03mmとした。またトナーは、正帯電、非磁性一成分、重合トナーを使用し、クリーニングブレードの材質にシリコーンゴムを使用した。更に用紙は、「BUSSINESS MULTIPURPOSE 4200 PAPER」(XEROX社製)を使用し、印字条件は、用紙面積に対し、所定の占有面積%となるよう、文字数を調整して文字を印字した。印字枚数は、1%印字濃度で14000枚を上限とし、「かぶり」が0〜8000枚目の間で発生した場合には「ばらつきあり」と、8001枚目以上で発生した場合には「良好」と評価した。

Claims (5)
- 回転可能な本体と、この本体の表面にトナーを担持する被覆層とを備える現像ローラであって、
前記本体の表面は、4〜10μmの範囲になる10点平均粗さ (Rz)と、1.5〜5%の範囲になる鏡面光沢度Gs(85°)とを有することを特徴とする、現像ローラ。 - 前記本体の表面は、ポリウレタンからなる、請求項1に記載の、現像ローラ。
- 前記被覆層は、架橋性樹脂からなる、請求項1又は2に記載の、現像ローラ。
- 前記架橋性樹脂が、ポリウレタンである、請求項3に記載の、現像ローラ。
- 回転可能な本体と、この本体の表面にトナーを担持する被覆層とを備える現像ローラの画像品質を判定する方法であって、
前記本体の表面粗さとその表面光沢度を測定し、その表面粗さが10平均粗さ(Rz)=4〜10μmの範囲であり、且つ、その表面光沢度が鏡面光沢度Gs(85°)=1.5〜5%の範囲であるものを画像品質が良好なものとして判定することを特徴とする、現像ローラの画像品質を判定する方法。
