Abstract
【解決手段】本発明の液晶表示パネル10は、マトリクス状に配置された各画素にTFT及び画素電極19が互いに層間絶縁膜17を介して設けられているとともに反射部15が設けられ、前記反射部15に形成したコンタクトホール20を介して前記画素電極19とTFTの電極Dとが電気的に接続された第一基板と、共通電極上でかつ前記各画素に対応する位置に少なくとも一つの突起311〜313が形成された第二基板と、両基板上にそれぞれ積層された垂直配向膜と、両基板間に配置された誘電率異方性が負の液晶29とを有し、前記第2基板のコンタクトホール20と対向する位置に設けられた突起313の底部に対応する位置に平面視において前記底部を覆う遮光膜363が形成されている。

共通電極上でかつ前記各画素に対応する位置に液晶分子の傾斜を規制する少なくとも一つの突起が形成された第二基板と、
前記第1及び第2基板上にそれぞれ積層された垂直配向膜と、
前記第1及び第2基板間に配置された誘電率異方性が負の液晶層とを有する液晶表示パネルにおいて、
前記第2基板には、前記コンタクトホールと対向する位置に前記突起の一つが設けられているとともに、前記突起に対応する位置に平面視において前記突起の底部を覆う遮光膜が形成されていることを特徴とする。

Claims (8)
- マトリクス状に配置された各画素にスイッチング素子及び画素電極が互いに層間絶縁膜を介して電気的に絶縁した状態で設けられているとともに外光を反射する反射部が設けられ、前記層間絶縁膜に形成したコンタクトホールを介して前記画素電極とスイッチング素子の電極とが電気的に接続された第一基板と、
共通電極上でかつ前記各画素に対応する位置に液晶分子の傾斜を規制する少なくとも一つの突起が形成された第二基板と、
前記第1及び第2基板上にそれぞれ積層された垂直配向膜と、
前記第1及び第2基板間に配置された誘電率異方性が負の液晶層とを有する液晶表示パネルにおいて、
前記第2基板には、前記コンタクトホールと対向する位置に前記突起の一つが設けられているとともに、前記突起に対応する位置に平面視において前記突起の底部を覆う遮光膜が形成されていることを特徴とする液晶表示パネル。 - 前記コンタクトホールは前記反射部に形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示パネル。
- 前記突起の底部の形状及び前記遮光膜の形状は円形状、長円形状、バー形状、Y字状又はY字と逆Y字を重ね合わせた形状であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示パネル。
- 前記画素電極は透過部を備え、前記第二基板には、前記透過部に対応する位置に少なくとも一つの突起が設けられているとともに、平面視において前記突起の底部を覆う遮光膜が形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示パネル。
- 前記透過部の突起の底部の形状及び前記遮光膜の形状は、円形状、長円形状、バー形状、Y字状又はY字と逆Y字を重ね合わせた形状であることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の液晶表示パネル。
- 前記遮光膜は、平面視において前記突起の底面と同じ大きさ又は前記突起の底面よりも大きい形状を有していることを特徴とする請求項1〜5のいずれかに記載の液晶表示パネル。
- 前記遮光膜は、前記第二基板における画素を区切るブラックマトリックスと同一材料からなり、前記ブラックマトリックスの形成と同時に形成されたものであることを特徴とする請求項1〜6のいずれかに記載の液晶表示パネル。
- 前記スイッチング素子は薄膜電界効果トランジスタ(TFT)であり、前記スイッチング素子の電極はドレイン電極であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示パネル。
