Abstract
【解決手段】
本発明は表示装置及びその駆動方法に関し、この装置は、第1及び第2サブ画素を含む複数の画素、第1サブ画素に接続されていて、第1ゲートオン電圧を伝達する複数の第1ゲート線、第2サブ画素に接続されていて、第2ゲートオン電圧を伝達する複数の第2ゲート線、及び第1及び第2データ電圧を伝達する複数のデータ線を含む。この時、各画素の第1及び第2サブ画素に各々印加される第1及び第2データ電圧は一つの映像情報から得られ、第1データ電圧は第2データ電圧より高くなく、第1データ電圧を第1サブ画素に印加する前に第2データ電圧をデータ線にプリチャージする。

Claims (24)
- 行列状に配列された、第1及び第2サブ画素を含む複数の画素、
前記第1サブ画素に接続された、第1ゲートオン電圧を伝達する複数の第1ゲート線、
前記第2サブ画素に接続された、第2ゲートオン電圧を伝達する複数の第2ゲート線、及び
前記第1及び第2サブ画素に接続された、第1及び第2データ電圧を伝達する複数のデータ線
を含み、
前記各画素の第1及び第2サブ画素に各々印加される前記第1及び第2データ電圧は一つの映像情報から得られ、前記第1データ電圧は前記第2データ電圧より低くなく、
前記第1データ電圧を前記第1サブ画素に印加する前に前記第2データ電圧を前記データ線にプリチャージすることを特徴とする表示装置。 - 前記第2データ電圧を前記データ線にプリチャージする前にインパルスデータ電圧を前記データ線に印加することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第2データ電圧のプリチャージは少なくとも2水平周期ごとに行われることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第2データ電圧のプリチャージは、前記インパルスデータ電圧が印加された水平周期のブランク区間から開始することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記インパルスデータ電圧は前記データ線を互いに接続して得られることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記インパルスデータ電圧が前記データ線に印加されれば、複数の画素行の第1及び第2ゲート線に前記第1及び第2ゲートオン電圧を同時に各々印加することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1ゲートオン電圧の印加時間と前記第2ゲートオン電圧の印加時間とは少なくとも一部分が重畳することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1ゲートオン電圧の印加時間は前記第2ゲートオン電圧の印加時間より短いことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の表示装置。
- 互いに異なる第1及び第2階調電圧集合を生成し、前記映像情報に該当する階調電圧を前記第1及び第2階調電圧集合から各々選択して、前記第1及び第2データ電圧として前記第1及び第2サブ画素に各々印加することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 第1のM個(Mは自然数)の画素行の第1及び第2サブ画素に前記第1のM個の画素行の第1及び第2データ電圧を交互に順次に各々印加した後、第2のM個の画素行の第1及び第2サブ画素にインパルスデータ電圧を同時に印加することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第2のM個の画素行の第1及び第2サブ画素に前記インパルスデータ電圧を印加した後、前記第2データ電圧を前記データ線にプリチャージすることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の表示装置。
- 前記第1及び第2ゲート線に接続されて前記第1及び第2ゲートオン電圧を印加するゲート駆動部と、
前記データ線に接続されて前記第1及び第2データ電圧とインパルスデータ電圧を印加するデータ駆動部と、
前記データ駆動部と前記ゲート駆動部を制御する信号制御部とをさらに含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記データ駆動部は、前記インパルスデータ電圧を印加した時点から1水平周期以内に前記第2データ電圧を前記データ線にプリチャージし始めることを特徴とする請求項12に記載の表示装置。
- 前記信号制御部は、1水平周期ごとに水平同期開始信号のパルスを前記データ駆動部に伝送するが、所定数の水平周期ごとに前記水平同期開始信号のパルスを省略することを特徴とする請求項12に記載の表示装置。
- 前記信号制御部は、極性信号の電圧レベルを変えた後に前記水平同期開始信号のパルスを省略することを特徴とする請求項14に記載の表示装置。
- 前記データ駆動部は、前記データ線に接続されている複数の出力端子を有し、前記水平同期開始信号のパルスが省略された水平周期で前記出力端子を互いに接続することを特徴とする請求項14に記載の表示装置。
- 第1及び第2サブ画素を含む複数の画素、前記第1及び第2サブ画素に各々接続されている複数の第1及び第2ゲート線、及び前記第1及び第2サブ画素に接続されている複数のデータ線を含む表示装置の駆動方法であって、
前記データ線に第1データ電圧を充電し、
前記充電段階以降に前記第2サブ画素に第2データ電圧を印加し、
前記第2データ電圧印加段階以降に前記第1サブ画素に前記第1データ電圧を印加し、
前記各画素の第1及び第2サブ画素に各々印加される前記第1及び第2データ電圧は一つの映像情報から得られ、前記第1データ電圧は前記第2データ電圧より低くないことを特徴とする表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記充電以前に前記第1及び第2サブ画素にインパルスデータ電圧を印加することを特徴とする請求項17に記載の表示装置の駆動方法。
- 前記インパルスデータ電圧印加は、前記データ線を互いに接続する段階を含むことを特徴とする請求項18に記載の表示装置の駆動方法。
- 前記インパルスデータ電圧印加は、前記インパルスデータ電圧を複数の画素行の第1及び第2サブ画素に同時に印加することを特徴とする請求項18に記載の表示装置の駆動方法。
- 前記第1データ電圧印加は、前記第1ゲート線に第1ゲートオン電圧を印加し、前記第2ゲート線にゲートオフ電圧を印加し、
前記第2データ電圧印加は、前記第2ゲート線に第2ゲートオン電圧を印加し、前記第1ゲート線に前記第1ゲートオン電圧を印加することを特徴とする請求項17に記載の表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記第2データ電圧印加の第1及び第2ゲートオン電圧の印加時間は少なくとも一部分が重畳することを特徴とする請求項21に記載の表示装置の駆動方法。
- 前記充電は少なくとも2水平周期ごとに行われることを特徴とする請求項17に記載の表示装置。
- 互いに異なる第1及び第2階調電圧集合を生成し、
前記第1及び第2階調電圧集合のうちのいずれか一つを選択し、
前記選択において、前記第1階調電圧集合が選択されれば、前記第1階調電圧集合を参照して前記第1データ電圧を生成し、前記第2階調電圧集合が選択されれば、前記第2階調電圧集合を参照して前記第2データ電圧を生成することを特徴とする請求項17に記載の表示装置の駆動方法。
