<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved travel control device for an electric wheelchair which enables the handheld operation of the travel control device because of a reduction in size and weight, has a joystick which never hinders a user from getting on and off the wheelchair and sitting at a table because of the travel control device accommodated in a pocket of the vehicle in the case of not traveling, and is used for assistance by attaching the travel control device to an assisting handle. <P>SOLUTION: The joystick of the travel control device for the electric wheelchair is made into a small, half spherical shape and is operated by the finger tip. A grip is attached to the joystick to operate the travel control device by holding it in the hand and by one hand. 本発明は、電動車いすの走行操作装置の改良に関わる。電動車いすの走行操作装置を小型軽量にすることにより、手持ちで操作することができ、走行していないときは車両のポケット等に収納できるため、車いすへの乗降時や食卓などへの着席時にジョイスティクが障害になることがなく、又、介助ハンドルへ装着することにより介助用にも兼用できるように改良するものである。

【従来の技術】
図1に電動車いすの走行操作装置の従来例を示す。
1は電源ON−OFFスイッチ、2は最高速度上昇設定スイッチ及び最高速度低減設定スイッチ、3は速度やバッテリー残量等を示すインジケーター、4は前後走行速度と左右の転だ及び転だ速度を制御するジョイスティック、5は上記を収納するカバーである。
走行操作は、1の電源スイッチをON、2の最高速度設定の矢印スイッチにて最高速度を設定する。
4のジョイスティックは掌で握り、前後左右方向の速度の制御はジョイスティックの前後左右方向の傾斜角度で決め、転だ角度は左右に倒す傾斜角度で決まる。尚、通常、走行操作出力信号は自走用がジョイスティックでアナログ、介助用がスイッチでデジタルである。

電動車いすの本発明走行操作装置例を図3(実施例1)に示す。
電動車いすの本発明走行操作装置は、片手で持てるようにグリップと小型ジョイスティックを一体化することであり、小型のジョイスティックは、ドーム型のカバーを付けて半球面型にし、グリップを握って親指の指先等で操作できる距離に置くことである。

【作用及び効果】
電動車いすの本発明走行操作装置は、使用していないとき図4(実施例2)に示すように車いすのポケット等に収納できるため、邪魔にならない。
電動車いすの本発明走行操作装置は、使用時には固定されていないことにより食卓などへの着席時にジョイスティックが障害になることがなく、また、電動車いすへの乗降時、ジョイスティックに衣服が引掛ることがなくなり安全である。尚、必要に応じて図5(実施例3)に示すように固定して使用することもできる。
更に、図6(実施例4)に示すように介助用走行操作装置として使用することができるため、介助時でも自走時と同様にジョイスティックで走行操作ができる。当然、自走用と介助用の2つの操作部を持つ必要がないので出費は少なくて済む。

本発明走行操作装置は、電動車いすの自走時、基本的に走行操作装置を手持ちで操作する。
走行操作装置のグリップを片手に持って親指でジョイスティックを操作し走行操作を行い、介助時にはグリップを介助用ハンドルに装着することで走行操作を行う。
自走時にグリップを車体に固定して使用することができるようにもなっている。

前後左右方向の速度の制御は、ジョイスティックを前後左右方向に倒す傾斜角度で決め、転だ角度は左右に倒す傾斜角度で決まるのも従来例と同様である。

【発明の効果】
以上説明したように、固定されていない電動車いすの走行操作装置は、走行操作をしていないとき邪魔にならないため、車いすへの乗降がしやすくなり、机や食卓へ着席する時の障害が無くなる。また、狭い場所を通行するときや旋回時も同様に障害がなくなり、安全性が増す。
更に、自走用と介助用を兼用できることを考えると、安全性向上のみでなく、コストの低減をすることができる。
