本発明は、レーザ放射線を用いてプラスチック構成部材を接合するための方法に関し、この方法では、薄壁状で且つ品質表面を有する第1プラスチック構成部材が、レーザ放射線に対して吸収性をもって形成されていて、品質表面の反対側において、レーザ放射線に対して透明性をもつ第2プラスチック構成部材と透過法で溶接される。

【従来の技術】
自動推進車両の車体部材は益々とデザイン要素となり、これらのデザイン要素は、高い表面品質を保証するためにプラスチック被覆として形成されていて、材料節約と重量軽減の理由から極めて薄い薄壁状に形成されている。このことは、中でも下請け産業において、より頻繁に発生する接合(即ち継ぎ合わせ)の問題を導き、その理由は、強化要素又は保持要素が薄壁状の熱可塑性部材と結合される必要があり、その際には往々にして高い表面品質が保証されなくてはならないためである。

以前より、熱可塑性プラスチックを透過法(即ち通過放射法)におけるレーザ溶接によって互いに結合させることが知られている。そのためには、投入されるレーザ放射線に対し、部材のうち一方の部材が透明性をもち且つ他方の部材が吸収性をもって形成されていることが必要である。レーザ放射線は、透明部材を貫き通り、吸収部材を表面において溶解させる。膨張する溶解物は透明部材と結合することになり、それにより、透明部材は、それと関連する熱伝達によって同様に溶解される。その結果、双方の溶解物の浸透によって溶接継手が形成される。

品質表面を有する平らなプラスチック軽量構成部材と1つの要素との間の耐久性のある結合の確立に関するこの種の方法は、例えば、この種の方法を構成する下記特許文献1から知られている。前記の要素は少なくとも部分領域においてレーザ光に対して透明であり、それに対し、プラスチック軽量構成部材はレーザ光を吸収し、更には、光吸収によりプラスチック軽量構成部材によって受け入れられるエネルギーが、品質表面の形状的な性質も材質的な性質も損傷しないように選択されるべきであることが要求されている。

レーザ放射線の浸入深さは材料に依存して典型的には0.01mmから0.2mmの間に位置するものであり、このようにレーザ放射線の浸入深さが僅かであるにもかかわらず、2mmの材料厚よりも薄い薄壁状のプラスチック構成部材では全材料厚の熱影響が発生し、材料崩壊の結果として、品質表面を有する側の表面品質が損傷されることになる。この不利な効果は、前記特許文献1から知られている措置によっても回避されない。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
それ故、本発明の課題は、薄壁状のプラスチック構成部材において、これらの部材が他の部材と結合される場合に、品質表面の材料崩壊による表面品質の損傷を回避することである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明に従い、前記の課題は、冒頭に掲げた形式の方法により、以下のことによって解決される。即ち、接合時のプラスチック構成部材間の温度勾配を減少するために透明プラスチック構成部材が予め加熱され、それにより、接合中の熱伝導によって引き起こされる透明プラスチック構成部材のより迅速な溶解が行われ、吸収プラスチック構成部材内における品質表面の方向への熱拡散が制限される。

本発明により、薄壁状のプラスチック構成部材の品質表面を損傷することなく溶接継手が出来上がり、その理由は、接合継手を製造するための時間が短縮され、材料内で熱伝導プロセスが進行する深さが減少されるためである。従って、周知の方法において1〜2mmの厚さの薄壁状の材料で生じてしまう全材料厚の熱影響が回避される。

本発明において、透明プラスチック構成部材は、支持部材として、薄壁状のプラスチック構成部材を強化或いは補強するためにも、薄壁状のプラスチック構成部材を固定するためにも用いられ得る。

有利な実施形態では、透明プラスチック構成部材の加熱が別個の熱源によって行われる。

本発明では、レーザ放射線或いはレーザ波長の部分吸収によって既に加熱が引き起こされるように透明プラスチック構成部材の材料が構成されている場合、前記の熱源も排除され得る。

このことは、放射源として広帯域NIR放射器を用いて作動される場合には特に意義があり、その理由は、その際には、加熱が、材料の吸収・透過特性を波長選択的に構成することによって引き起こされ得るためである。

透過法におけるレーザ溶接のためには基本的に700nm〜1200nmの波長が適している。

【発明の実施の形態】
次に、図面に基づき、本発明を更に詳細に説明する。

図1に描かれている合成物質としてのプラスチック構成部材のうち、1つは薄壁状の射出成形部材1であり、この射出成形部材1は、接合面2の反対側に即ち接合面2に対向して品質表面3を有し且つポリマー材料から製造されていて、このポリマー材料は、透過法におけるレーザ溶接時に投入されるレーザ放射線を吸収する。他方のプラスチック構成部材4は、好ましくは射出成形部材1と同様のポリマーから構成され、熱放射器5を使い、その溶解点よりも低いほぼ50℃の温度に加熱され、引き続き、射出成形部材1と接合するために必要な位置に送られる。

両方のプラスチック構成部材1及び4は、非図示の機械的な保持装置を用いて互いに固定され、例えば高出力ダイオードレーザとして構成され得るレーザ放射線源6のレーザ放射線を作用させながら互いに溶接される。この際、接合面2とプラスチック構成部材4の接合面7との間には、透明プラスチック構成部材4の溶解を可能とするために、できるだけ小さな隙間が設けられ得る。

レーザ放射線源6は、少なくとも、生成すべき溶接継手8に沿った座標内で位置調節可能であり、このことは図面内で矢印で記されている。このシステムは、当然のことであるが、ここでは非図示のx・y・位置調節装置によってよりフレキシブルに作動する。

同様に非図示の光学系は、レーザ光線を適切な溶接形状に形成するために用いられる。

Claims (7)

  1. レーザ放射線を用いてプラスチック構成部材を接合するための方法であって、薄壁状で且つ品質表面を有する第1プラスチック構成部材が、レーザ放射線に対して吸収性をもって形成されていて、品質表面の反対側において、レーザ放射線に対して透明性をもつ第2プラスチック構成部材と透過法で溶接される前記方法において、
    接合時のプラスチック構成部材間の温度勾配を減少するために透明プラスチック構成部材が予め加熱され、それにより、接合中の熱伝導によって引き起こされる透明プラスチック構成部材のより迅速な溶解が行われ、吸収プラスチック構成部材内における品質表面の方向への熱拡散が制限されることを特徴とする方法。
  2. 透明プラスチック構成部材が別個の熱源によって加熱されることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
  3. レーザ放射線或いはレーザ波長の部分吸収によって加熱が引き起こされるように透明プラスチック構成部材の材料が構成されていることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の方法。
  4. 透過溶接法が700nm〜1200nmの波長領域内のレーザ放射線を用いて実施されることを特徴とする、請求項1〜3のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
  5. 透過溶接法が、広帯域NIR放射器を用いて実施されることを特徴とする、請求項4に記載の方法。
  6. 透明プラスチック構成部材が薄壁状のプラスチック構成部材を強化或いは補強するために用いられることを特徴とする、請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
  7. 透明プラスチック構成部材が薄壁状のプラスチック構成部材を固定するために用いられることを特徴とする、請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
