LA MISURA DEL TEMPO VIENE EFFETTUATA MEDIANTE UN CONTATORE ELETTRONICO CHE VIENE C1CLICAMENTE AVVIATO ALLA TRASMISSIONE DEL SEGNALE OTTICO ED ARRESTATO ALLA SUA RICEZIONE. UN MICROPROCESSORE CONTROLLA LA SORGENTE LUMINOSA IN MODO DA FARLE INVIARE IL SEGNALE OTTICO IMPULSIVO CON UNA FREQUENZA DI RIPETIZIONE COMPLETAMENTE SCORRELATA DA QUELLA DEL SEGNALE ELETTRICO CONTEGGIATO DAL CONTATORE.
