Abstract

Rolling mill stand which is mobile between two positions situated at 90 degrees w.r.t. each other, the rolls maintaining the same rolling axis or line, has the stand located on a fixed base by an articulated linkage system possessing the shape of a triangle of which one side possesses a variable length. The roll stand can be moved along the base by a trolley on which the stand is mounted via pivots, and side straps also mounted on pivots control the arc through which the stand is swung by the trolley moving along guide slots in the base. The rolls on this two-high mill can be used either in the horizontal or vertical position, e.g. for the hot rolling of light steel sections and flat material. This stand has a simpler design than conventional types and is therefore less expensive to mfr.
