Abstract

Filtration appts. partic. for the clarification of wine, sparkling wine, vinegar etc. consists of a filtering body and a filter-aid container; both are mounted on a chassis fitted with wheels. The filter body consists of a recipient with a leakproof cover; it contains a number of sieves, with a cloth retaining a filter aid, which are mounted on a transverse support which can be vibrated. The liq. to be filtered is admitted under the desired press. by the pump. The filtrate is collected in the pipe while residues are discharged through the door. After the filtration cycle the filter cakes, with the retained impurities are detached by the vibratory movement; the pieces fall to the bottom of the filter body and are evacuated through the door. A fresh filter aid layer is built up on the cloths and filtering is resumed. The periodical washing of the sieves is no longer necessary so that there are no polluted wash waters to be disposed of.
