Claims (17)
1. A telecommunication network for the digital exchange of intelligence between lines for analog and digital transmission, including the following blocks: a) multiplex terminals both for the conversion into digital form of analog intelligence and for assembling a number of lines into the same number of channels of a time division multiplex (TDM) line and vice versa for the other direction. b) multiplex register units for receiving and processing dial information and for sending it to a central control device and for applying information to switching circuits under the control of the control device, and c) switching units for the interconnection of channels on TDM lines connected thereto wherein the control device is a central processor wherein the blocks are interconnected b TDM lines and remotely controlled thereover, and wherein each of the TDM lines interconnecting the blocks is connected to a switching unit at least at one side of a said switching unit.
2. A network according to claim 1 and wherein for each said block at least one TDM line connected thereto contains a channel for controlling this block, which channel is fixedly connected to the control circuit of its said block.
3. A network according to claim 2, and wherein when several TDM lines are connected to a block at least two of those TDM lines contain a control channel fixedly connected to the block.
4. A network according to claim 1, 2 or 3 and wherein the TDM lines from the central control device contain only control channels.

A network according to claim 2, wherein at least one control channel is provided which originates from the central control device and is fixedly connected to a switching unit, and wherein the control of all other units is performed via control paths which go over switching units and can be interrupted or switched thereby under the control of the central control device.

A network according to claim 3, wherein each unit is controllable by the central control device over at least two independent control paths, wherein for blocks connected to the remainder of the network via only one TDM line the independent control paths extend from the central control device up to the last switching unit, and wherein at each time only one of the two paths is through-connected.
7. • 7. A method of operating a switching network according to claim 1, wherein on installation the central control device establishes control paths to at least two switching units and then with the aid of these units to all other blocks, and wherein the remote control is performed over the control paths thus established.
8. A method according to claim 7, and wherein no control channel going to a given switching unit is switched-through by that unit.
9. A method according to claim 7, and wherein when a fault indication occurs in respect of a control channel the central control device intiates a deviation of the control channels over another path.
10. A method according to claim 9, and wherein that other path goes, as far as possible, over TDM lines and blocks not touched by the initial control channel.
11. A method according to claim 10, and wherein the other control path goes over a second TDM line connected to this block.
12. A telecommunication network for the digital exchange of intelligence between lines for analog and digital transmission, including the following blocks: a) multiplex terminals both for the conversion into digital form of analog signals and for assembling a number of lines into the same number of channels of a time division multiplex (TDM) line and vice versa for the other direction; b) multiplex register units for receiving and processing dial information and for sending it to a central control device, and for applying information to switching circuits under the control of the control device, and c) switching units for the interconnection of channels on TDM lines connected thereto; wherein the central control device is a central processor , wherein the transmission of information between the individual blocks is performed only via lines operated in a digital time division multiplex manner, and wherein all such connections connected to the blocks are lines of a uniform type.
13. A network according to claim 12, wherein some of the blocks are subscriber line concentrators for the connection of digitally-operated lines to digitally-operated channels of one or more TDM lines, and wherein only TDM lines of said uniform type go from said concentrators to the other blocks.
14. A network according to claim 12, and wherein the TDM lines contain channels of the uniform type both for the transmission of telephone, teleprinter and data information and for the transmission of control information for the network.
15. A network according to claim 14 and wherein all blocks are remotely controllable.
16. A network according to claim 15 and wherein the mutual geographical position of the blocks can be chosen freely .
