Abstract

1347239 Tyre treads DUNLOP HOLDINGS Ltd 19 April 1971 [14 Feb 1970] 7207/70 Heading B7C A pneumatic tyre 1 has a tread comprising a plurality of spaced-apart ground-contacting blocks A, B, C, D and E, the blocks C provided at or adjacent the centre of the tread having a longer transverse edge length, a shorter circumferential length and a greater depth, than the blocks E at or closest to the tread shoulder region. As shown, the circumferential edge length, the transverse edge length and the depth of each block are respectively longer, shorter and smaller the greater the distance in the axial direction of the axially innermost part of the block from the mid-circumferential plane of the tyre. Each block has a rectangular ground-contacting surface and the blocks are disposed in rows transverse to the tyre midcircumferential plant. The transverse grooves formed between transverse rows each have a width in a circumferential direction which is at least as wide as the circumferential edge length of the blocks adjacent the given part of the grooves. Successive rows are transversely staggered and the blocks A-E of each row may be all of different lengths, widths and depths. Alternatively in each row the blocks may be symmetrically dimensioned on each side of the centre block C. [GB1347239A]
