Elements 14, 15 include two right-angle bends and are spaced in the fore and aft direction of the chair, and the loop 13 is inclined to the horizontal, the fastening members being disconnected by raising one chair while tilting it on an axis parallel to the fore-and-aft direction. In modifications, the elements 14, 15 are unconnected at their outer ends and are received in spaced apertures provided in each of two members or as a U-shaped member or annulus, or the fastening members are provided on corresponding front or rear legs of adjacent articles of furniture.
